Miri to Brunei Darussalam
Good morning … it is another wonderful Wednesday…
Today is my day off. Taking a break in the middle of the week is quite relaxful at times.
I recently went to Brunei for a short day trip. I am going to show all of you a rough idea of what this journey looks like. Usually, on a weekday, it is not as crowded as during weekends.
The jam can be quite heavy at times. Both immigration checkpoints have recently been upgraded to some extent.
But fortunately, someone was clever enough to create a website to check for queueing times by gathering the data from Google Maps.
I usually check the site before heading to Brunei to roughly get an idea of how much traffic could be at the border.
The journey to Brunei from Miri

This is the border road to Brunei. One of the things that is the best is that there are a lot of trees and palm trees surrounding the road.

ASEAN BRIDGE
This is the bridge that links Miri to Brunei. It was a long time ago a river, and every car that travelled to the other side had to use the ferry. For Malaysian cars, the toll is free charge, but for foreign cars is around RM 10 per vechicle or around USD 2.50.

The Malaysian customs and immigration control
This is the Malaysian side. Today, there is no jam as it is a weekday.

After passing through the checkpoint, we are at the Brunei immigration post. This part is no longer used but has not yet been demolished. I recorded this with my action camera on the dashboard.

This is Brunei's immigration's post. This is also where customs is. They usually check if someone brings any contraband or prohibited items. It is illegal to smoke in Brunei, bring alcoholic drinks without declaration and meat products are usually not allowed.

After passing through the Brunei immigration post, this is the view of the road here in Brunei.

There are lots of cars here.
Brunei Courts building

Visited the courts of Kuala Belait for some personal matter. Here in Brunei, whenever you visit any government offices, you are not allowed to wear shorts or a T-shirt. You have to at least wear something decent that is not revealing.
After that, we went to my mom-in-law’s house

She loves to keep her compound clean. She is quite hardworking for her age. This time, we ordered a new board for her sewing machine. The board of her sewing machine has already rotted away due to termites. It took around two hours to change it.
After that, it was time for me to get back to Miri.
Thank you very much for reading this post. Have a wonderful day ahead.
