I was on my way to Yau Ma Tei, arriving in Hong Kong at around 5.30 p.m.

My wife and I got on the MTR and were on our way to the city.

Day 1 in Hong Kong. One thing I noticed while I was in Hong Kong was that the night came early.

6 p.m., the skies already turned dark. The temperature is about 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.

The stations are clean. Everyone has their own style.

The hotel that we booked was big, even though there was no Harbour view. Initially, I booked the hotel with a view of Victoria Harbour. But, it was a lot smaller than the rooms at this hotel. Is it worth it?

Yea.

The Hotel room

I stayed at Yau Ma Tei at a hotel known as

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Hotel

23 square metres in the heart of the city.

The toilet here is huge, too. It is also super quiet here at night.

A week in Hong Kong has not been enough. I still have a lot of places on my list that I would be exploring sometime in the future.

The Yau Ma Tei station is not far from here. They provide a complimentary breakfast.

The breakfast saved me a whole week of morning meals. Eating around Hong Kong is not the cheapest. One meal usually cost around USD 15 as compared to around USD 5 to 10 in Sarawak.

Even though there was only bread, butter, coffee, and apples, it helped us allocate that extra budget to other areas like souvenirs or food.

A few of the places that we were excited to visit is Macau, Ocean Park, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

This is a nice little spot where you can see buses and taxis driving past every day. The weather was quite cool. I did not know that it would get so cold at that point.

This is the Yau Ma Tei area where I stayed for the whole week here. Explored a lot of Yau Ma Tei while I was here.

The bottom parts are all shops to a couple of storeys up and the higher floors are all residential.

The view from the 16th floor. Luckily, I was given the 16th floor. You can watch the streets from here. Something interesting. Every night after a long day out and about walking around the city, I come back to the hotel and sleep for minutes.
