Nintendo Switch

Got me a Nintendo Switch. A small little reward for myself. I still remember those days when I was still a teenager when my dad got me the PS2 and the Nintendo NES. Wow. Time flies and it has been a while. So, after some hard work, I decided to get a gaming console for myself. I earlier wanted the PS5 but then after some consideration decided to get a Nintendo Switch OLED instead.

It arrived and it felt amazing to have it. Reliving those days when I was still a teenager.

Japanese words on the box. The best thing about the switch despite it not having the best graphics card installed, is the portability and the availability of family-friendly games. It's like having a gaming console that you can bring everywhere and if you want it to be on the large screen, you can do that. The battery life is awesome. I've been playing with it for a while and I have not had to worry about battery much.

The best thing about having a console is that I can sit there in my own space and zone, and immerse myself in a fun game. It has been quite beneficial. I have felt relaxed. A small getaway whenever I get too busy.

Japanese

This is a cool box. The last time I bought a game console was a long long time ago.

This is what is at the back of the box

It comes with the two joy-cons (the controllers), and the dock. The joy cons I have been reading reviews is that there is this drift issue where the joystick loses control sometime in the future. Well, since the joy cons are detachable, I guess, you'll just need to get new ones by then to deal with that problem.

The unboxing

The unboxing of any new device is definitely satisfying. The screen and the two joy-cons in their plastic.

I usually have them attached to the main tablet section to have a better grip and occasionally have them detached.

As the screen is OLED, it saves lots of battery life. The OLED version has a 64 GB memory card built-in. You can add more storage by inserting an SD card at the back of the main table section.

One thing to be careful about the OLED screen is to not have any sharp things near by. It can easily get damaged. I have already gotten a screen protector. Before that, I did not bring it out of the house.

THE DOCK

Place the main unit in and there is a HDMI port where you can connect to the TV.

The joy cons, the dock.

This is the switch at the moment.

Installed with some games from the Nintendo E-store. The tempered glass screen protector and the case for the switch. Charging is fast. Less than 2 hours and it is fully charged for gameplay for about 6 to 8 hours. If you do not play with it and leave it on standby, you're not going to worry much about battery drop.

I have only so far bought one physical game cartridge at the moment. Will add on soon. I have a couple of digital games installed. Some are free and some I bought. I usually check out the Great Deals sections. One thing to take note of is that not all regions have the Nintendo E-store. You have to change your region to places that have the E-store. I chose the US region.

Is it worth it? Yes. I am not worried about whether the new version is coming out or not since it is already in its seventh year. If there is anything you would like to know, do ask me. I've had it for a couple of weeks and enjoying it. Pretty rugged if you have all the right protection. The battery life is awesome and then there is Mario and Zelda. You can't get it on other consoles.
