Traditional local food

Good morning. everyone.. how has your week been like? My week has been great. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sarawak is home to a myriad of wonderful Asian cuisines. The food here is a fusion of many different cultures through the years. Today, I am going to take you on a tour to have a look at what some of the traditional Hakka food looks like. Hakka is a subculture of China.

Hakka Abacus seeds

My wife enjoys eating these Abacus seeds. These are made of yam and are a type of traditional dish here in Sarawak. Yam is a delicate type of ingredient as it takes a lot of skill to make sure that the yam is fresh.


The taxi association warehouse

We went to eat at the taxi association warehouse. It is one of those places where taxi drivers usually gather. However, there are not many taxis here these days.

This warehouse is huge and since there is a lot of space, the owners have set up lots of stalls here and you can order food here.

Marudi Kueh Tiaw

These are fried kueh tiaw

Fried with lots of heat and fire. This dish is one that is surely going to hit lots of the palettes in our mouths.

These Hakka Abacus seeds are chewy. There is a lot of garlic that is fried with these abacus yam seeds. Not plant seeds, that's what this is called.

Hmmm local traditional dishes are very interesting to me too, I myself indulge sometimes when I get a chance. I think your food scenes are great especially Marudi Kueh Tiaw and after hearing this Fried with lots of heat and fire. My mouth is really watering ha ha ha. Thanks for sharing
