Photo club visit to greenhouse

This photo series came out from a photo club activity we did some time ago. These are not specifically themed but we visited the greenhouse on the way. The model, Turhan Ulgudur, was actually hosting us in the event in his city of Edirne, Turkiye. Many thanks to him. I dont think he has a Hive account but at least I can mention his IG handle: @turhanulgudur.

So, It was not a real working day, but we tried to feel like one. Our host acted as a farmer, collecting vegetables, moving slowly between the long green rows. For me, it was full of geomety rather than edibles :)

Inside the greenhouse, everything feels repetitive and endless. The curved plastic ceiling creates strong lines, almost like a tunnel, and the plants follow this rhythm on the ground. When the model walks in the middle, he becomes part of this pattern. Sometimes he stands, sometimes bends down. I liked this compositions — all the lines were directing the eye to the worker.

The light was soft, diffused by the cover material. It comes from the side, and the trees outside creating shadows on the plastic walls. In some frames, the shadow of the person outside became more interesting than the worker himself. Especially in the later shots, the silhouttes implies the transience of the day, silently following the work. That moment pushed me to convert one image into black and white, to make the scene more timeless and quiet.

Although it was a staged activity, I felt a strange honesty there. The posture of bending, the basket, the repeated movement… all of it reminded me how much labor stays invisible in daily life. I did not want dramatic moments. I preferred simple walking, waiting, and collecting.

For me, this series is about routine, lines, and silent effort. Not a documentary, not fiction either. Just a short moment inside a greenhouse, shared with friends, light, and a camera.
