How Strong Words Could Be.

Hello everyone. Welcome to my blog. Actually, I'm taking a different approach to today's creative Sunday prompt. I prepared something different from my regular post about the dishes I prepared and cooking methods. Since Friday, I have been working on this piece, which I was able to complete this morning. It's a spoken word/poem that I created in response to how someone's harsh comments affected me. It was the first time in a long time that words affected me so badly.
So, here it is;

"Words", they possess an aura so strong
It can build up or tear down, all day long.
And today, my heart is feeling the pain
Of words spoken that cut deep like a hurricane

I'm in a state of confusion, mixed emotions.
Not surprised, yet still in shock with the notion
Expectations they say can hurt us bad
And in my heart, it feels like a thousand daggers have been had

Jealousy may have sparked a flame once again
But was it worth fighting for, in the end?
When who I fought for, didn't even choose me
It's funny how she claimed that I hurt her more, smiles.

So here's the thing;
"She was given an opportunity to choose, and you weren't even her second option. She said; if she(another) wasn't' there, there wouldn't been any me." Her words though and I'm still curious to know more.

My heart feels like it's wrecked
Why does this hurt so much, I thought I had moved on?
But these hidden tears are proof that there's still so much to be done

Reminiscing on the moment, and those words left unsaid,
Feelings kept locked away,
Memories swept under the bed
This thing called love, it can hurt like hell.
Damn!

You know, people frequently confuse being explicit and disrespectful with being outspoken. It's okay to express your opinions on a situation or a person, but have you ever paused to think about how the language you use or the words you choose may damage that person's mental health? You don't always say what you want to say cause you want to. Words have the ability to build or destroy things.
