Living in a Sub-urban Area

Source

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.
You know, the areas where people live somehow depends on the individual's preferences and needs and also depends on if the individual will be able to cope with the cost of living. Although there are other factors to consider too in situations like this.

I live with my parents in a small community somewhere in Rivers state, Nigeria. I can't particularly call it a village neither can I call it a city/ Urban area because it has varieties of benefitial advantage such as amenities as well as opportunities needed for one to live comfortably. It's more like a in between being both an urban and rural area(suburban/semi urban area)

Here we have access wide range to of standard and basic amenities such as good transportation system, good tarred roads, shopping centers e.g., market square shopping center, spar shopping center etc), parks, restaurants, cinemas etc.. Unlike the typical rural area where one finds it difficult to access such.
Personally, I think it's pretty okay and fun to live in this kind of area( semi-urban area). I mean, you can get a mixed feeling of what it means to live in the village as well as in the city and also the cost of living here is moderate and cheaper. For an average sized family like mine, I think it's perfect.

If I had a chance to change my place of living, I really wouldn't want to change this area, giving the cost of living in the city and my financial capacity. I come from a middle-class family, where we are not financially bouyant neither are we poor. I have lived comfortable in this area with my parents and they have been able to provide every necessary thing needed to make I and my sibling comfortable. We bought a piece of land and we managed to build a two bedroom bungalow and 2 separate self-con which we gave out for rent. So you see, living in this area has offered us opportunity to own asset given our financial capacity. I also have easy access to good education, good health care, premium security, and other things needed to stay comfy.

Although, the objective is to be rich someday, but the most important thing is for us all to be able to meet our basic needs and live comfortably.

I virtually lived my entire life in this region, I attended a private high school, with well educated teachers, well conducive learning classroom, labs, assembly hall, health care service etc.
The school fees plus all other additional cost was about 60,000 naira and it was worth the pay. If compared with schools in the city area, it would cost even more of which I can't afford. I also have access to various lucrative job opportunities, recreational facilities and good health care service.

So, there was this time when I was seriously ill, I was being rushed to the hospital. Then my dad used to work for a private Company as one of the heavy duty truck drivers. It was part of their rules that each employees and their families gets health insurance covered by the company. That is, every month, the company deducts a certain percentage from the employee's salary and it's being allocated for his/her health insurance and that of their respective families. So every individual of my family has a card that grants you access to the hospital the company works with. So, when Doctor examined my body and found that it was Pneumonia , I was quickly admitted and treated properly. There in the hospital, there were well trained and educated doctors as well as nurses and their services were top notch even though it wasn't a private hospital and it was easier to access the hospital.

However, like wise said, the objective is to live a comfortable and peaceful life.

Well, until next time,
Have a nice day.
