The 2020 1 oz silver St. Lucia whiptail lizard coin is another fine example in the EC8 coin series from the Scottsdale Mint.

Since 2018 the Scottsdale Mint has been producing coins for the EC8(Eastern Caribean 8) encompassing 8 Caribean Island groups in the ECCB (Eastern Caribean Central Bank) who governs currency for these Island Countries. Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines.

The 2020 St. Lucia whiptail lizard coin is the 3rd coin in the EC8 series from St. Lucia. The whiptail lizard can be found in Central and South America and the West Indies with St. Lucia being the only Island in the West Indies the lizard is naturally from.

The obverse side freatures a frosted center with a side view of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a laurel wreath. The shiny outer rim is inscribed with EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK on the top, QUEEN ELIZABETH II on the bottom, .999 SILVER on the left and TWO DOLLARS on the right. This is the standard design for all of the EC8 series coins and was created by Ian Rank-Broadley.

The Reverse features a whiptail lizard in the center bottom half of the coin. Just above the lizard to the left are two dormant volcano mountain peaks known as the Pitons or Gros Piton and Petit Piton. To the right of the mountains is a rose the national flower of St. Lucia. The inscription on the top reads ST. LUCIA with 2020 just below and WHIPTAIL LIZARD on the bottom.

I would have liked seeing a Ten Dollar Face Value on this Coin...

All of the coins in the EC8 series are only 2 dollars face value.
Not sure why they are 2 dollars, it's kind of a off number but
but what do I know. lol

I figure the Central Banks Owners like us using numbers like that, to keep us confused... They don't want us to figure out that we made some Big Mistakes with our Sovereign Coinage...

hand.

I have looked at this before but have not
done anything with it yet. I will take
another look and see what it's all about.

St. Lucia, another place I'd to anchor off and search for buried treasure. I'll not likely find any, It's an excuse to enjoy myself there.

I imagine they have some nice reef's with some beautiful sealife to enjoy even if you don't find any treasure.

Hi Michael. I love the detailed art work of the lizard, and look at that rose. It is beautiful. The queen had excellent detail as well and captures the unique features of her face. Thank you for sharing. Barb :) !BBH !CTP

Yeah the pictures are nice but they don't do it justice at all compared to what they look like holding these coins in your hand.

Yes it is very proof like.
It seems like a lot of the work the
Scottsdale mint does is proof like.
I kinda like the shiny look.

Another very nice coin, Mike.

So how long do you think it will take to get King Charles on the currency?

I have a coin with King Charles, it was the first
design with him on it.

They are starting to do more and more coins already.
This year you will see more coins with the new design
and also I have seen where there are some Countries
that will redesign their coins without a royal figure
on them at all.
