Greetings my friends. For a long time, we could not go to the beautiful places located in the southern province. About two weeks ago, a business friend told me to intervene especially to spend the last weekend. He was busy with business, so I was entrusted with the organization. After that, I informed three of my dear friends about this to reserve the 24th and 25th for this trip. Being a person who always respects the opinions of others, I exchanged their opinions over the phone for the past week. A schedule was then made and the two most suitable tree cabanas were booked. It is located in Debarawewa village, which is very close to the beautiful and culturally valuable Tissamaharama town. After communicating our requirements to the owner of River Side Cabana, we were informed that he would fulfill them without any hesitation, leaving us in no doubt about the destination.

We could not leave at 1.30 pm as planned because the business friend was a bit busy. Accordingly, at 2.45 in the afternoon, the car started traveling along the southern highway with my other friends. After an hour and a half, we reached Pannegamuwa from the Mattala exit gate through Lunugamwehera and then proceeded to Tissamaharamaya. The vehicle was driven continuously for more than a hundred kilometers, so it stopped for a few minutes. On the way, we reminded the hotel owner again about our dinner. Although I could not arrive at 4.30 pm as arranged, I was lucky to reach there at 5.15 pm.

The owner made us feel very welcome and was shown the tree house and tree cabana that we requested, giving us the opportunity to find another hotel if it didn't suit us. At first I started climbing the tree house because it was requested by me. But it was not easy to climb more than 15 feet. As this guest house was built by a group of foreigners, the wooden stairs going up were also arranged in a different architecture. It was not possible to photograph the area from the top to the bottom of the tree houses because it was a little far away. Although I wanted to get the tree house, there was no attached bathroom, so in the end I refused. The bathroom was at ground level below the tree. Accordingly, the owner agreed to provide me and my business friend with a tree cabana.

The owner decided not to build a bathroom at the top of the tree in order to preserve the naturalness of the tree house. A person who loves the environment, his views are very important.

The use of natural materials to preserve the natural vitality of these cabanas built in front of a lake should be appreciated. Although foreign tourists are less in our country these days, after coming to a place like this, they can enjoy their free time close to the environment.

Due to the absence of tourists for a long time, the cement benches used for revelers or alcoholic parties were getting discolored. However, with our arrival, they seemed excited. Because they started cleaning the surroundings on Sunday morning.

From a distance you can see the scenery of the tree cabanas. Built using more wood, these have high strength due to the use of well matured wood. The small restaurant below the cabanas arranged for our dinner and party. Pieces of wood made into small tables were also seen. There were plastic mixed iron chairs in between. Although the lower part of the restaurant is close to the lake, there is a risk due to the strength of the wood.

I was curious to see how these cabanas were so strong without pouring concrete, so I went down. Tires and concrete were used on the ground to support the cabanas on very strong wooden poles. The cabanas were painted green as another part of the environment.

If you want to visit and stay River side cabana Debarawewa, You can choose two roads for that. First you can come across southern expressway and need to reach Lunugamvehera. Then you can reach Pannegamuwa village. Finally you can reach Tissamaharama- Debarawewa road.

Also you can select normal road name called Galle - Kataragama road. After passed Weerawila town next you'll be Debarawewa. But southern expressway very quick than use normal roads because that roads has traffics while go the main cities.

Established in 2010, River Side Cabana is an eco-conscious guest house, located in Debarawewa; a charming and developing town near Tissamaharama which is 20 kms from Hambantota.This yet to be discovered hideout lies away from mass tourism but with an ideal central position to explore the wild southern part of Sri Lanka, a renowned place for safari.

Instead of asbestos sheets, the use of branches woven from coconut leaves to cover the roof can be called a great approach to nature. Being located near a lake, the cool breeze gave us great inspiration. And our ears were filled with the beautiful sounds of birds. Although the owner mentioned that it is a lake where crocodiles live, we could not see it because the water level in the lake was low.

Debarawewa has a fabulous expansive grassland, bordering Yala National Park (25kms); where you can see the highest density of leopards in the world. Another highlight of the area is Bundala Bird Sanctuary (25kms); a paradise for bird watching. Some of the holiest ancient Hindu and Buddhist spiritual places in the country will complete your trip in our area.

Debarawewa area is experiencing dry weather these days. The view from the lake area is more attractive than the view from the land. I was lucky enough to see the beautiful architecture of the construction of the cabana from this tree house.

Debarawa Riverside Cabana can be identified as the most suitable place to be intimate with nature at the lowest cost. The owner of the cabana is very honest and the care given to the guests should be commended. Barbecue facility is also available here but we did not avail it. If you want to go to Bundala Bird Sanctuary as well as Yala Sanctuary, they offer safari jeep services with experienced drivers.

The shrimp devil and fried sausages and meat curry that we requested were accepted for the dinner party. Chicken and shrimp fried rice was prepared for dinner. In this way, the five of us had the opportunity to celebrate a very beautiful Saturday morning and night.
