Beautiful architectural features of Bentota tourist resorts located near the border between Southern Province and Western Province.

Hi architecture lovers,

Greetings from Sri Lanka. I believe you are enjoying with beloved once this weekend. For a few days, I could not come to this platform almost regularly because I was busy with work and personal life. But I hope to get back to my usual rhythm very soon. Yesterday there was a wedding that I was invited to, so I had to take leave. There I had to go to the city of Kalutara in the western province. On the way, we had to cross the border separating the Southern Province and the Western Province of Sri Lanka. If from the southern province, Bentota town and from the western province should pass the city of Aluthgama. The benthic can be described as the river margin. In this content, I intended to show the distinctive architectural features of the tourist resorts seen in Bentota city.

At first my attention was drawn to a tourist resort designed using the old architectural tradition. It was built without a roof following the concept of concrete slabs. The rooms on the first floor and the second floor are covered with glass only. What was particularly noticeable was the lack of open windows and doors in this resort. Perhaps there are windows and doors that open onto the beach. The entrance gate of this tourist resort is well made of very strong wood.

I got to see a beautiful restaurant surrounded by a beautiful garden with ornamental plants and plants. It has very unique architectural features. Therefore, my attention was directed to Ranra Tea Shop. After entering the garden after the entrance gate, a sculpture of a tea cup with a slightly larger shape has been created here. The statue of this unique tea cup, which is not seen in an ordinary coffee or tea restaurant, is really impressive. It can sometimes also be a reason to attract visitors.

It is clearly seen that this restaurant, shaped like an old Sri Lankan bungalow, has been designed using old architectural features. It can be confirmed through my experience. Generally, an old bungalow in Sri Lanka has triangular shaped roofs. The representation of that shaped roof in this restaurant highlights our ancient architecture to the foreigners as well as the new generation.

When I'm on a trip, I don't just observe buildings. Meanwhile, I stop to see the beautiful walls and observe the unique shapes. We can also gather some knowledge in seeing them. So I don't always focus only on buildings. Architecture is not just a subject of buildings. Therefore, all things related to construction are related to architecture, so I pay more attention to all those things. Especially when observing distinctive shapes.

Another great restaurant caught my attention while traveling. Following the eco-friendly concept, the characteristic architectural features of the walls are made using clay in almost brown color. Although the building is small, the natural appearance gives great peace of mind.

As I mentioned before, I like to see different architectural features even in my small visit. So I observe every aspect of the construction industry. Giving the same shape to a wall made of black stone adds great value. Adding stones to give the shape of a fort is also an architectural feature.

I came across another attractive building where the walls were shaped like windows, but no windows were actually built. The combination of white, blue and mixed colors is more brilliant. Actually, if the windows were built here, it could have taken a more attractive shape.

20230127_100951.jpg

Again I came across a beautiful resort with architectural features like a luxury bungalow. Made of strong wood, the windows here are made in a very attractive shape. The shape of the roof and the shapes of the balcony areas have been used very attractively. The windows and doors are very beautifully made in oval shape. Seeing that, my heart was very happy.

The shapes of windows and doors and other architectural featu res of this resort have been thoughtfully designed. Seeing these really makes all the visitors want to stay here. The balcony area of this resort has been designed in the shape of a British mansion. It is also a great privilege to stay in a resort with such beautiful architecture and a balcony area.

It was during this trip that I got to see another beautiful tourist resort built near an old pile that had collapsed. The nature of the stairs of this building is very beautiful. In order to attract every visitor to a tourist resort, it must have special architectural features. For that, the attractive architectural features of all the buildings should be noticed by specially experienced people.

I came across another small niche where the first floor balcony area was designed with strong and attractive shapes. Although this looks like an ordinary house, it has been provided for the accommodation of guests.

All the hoteliers follow the unique architectural features to attract the tourists by creating unique shapes on the walls of the tourist resorts. The shapes of the walls and other architectural features are unique in all the tourist resorts that I have observed in all my visits. You can see that in order to attract the attraction of a tourist resort, even its garden should be designed to provide an environmental attraction.

The beautiful wood carvings produced in the balcony areas of some resorts attract the attention of the visitors. We can find the frames of windows and doors made in elliptical shape very attractive. It amazes me to see how the gardens are maintained in these tourist resorts established in exclusive tourist areas.

Hello @madushanka. I'd imagine that since Sri Lanka is a small island, it would be quite easy for residents to travel to the coastlines due to their close distances, right? No wonder a lot of resort communities have been sprouting and thriving in your country! 👍😊

The Bentota neighborhood looks like a refreshing beach environment for leisure and entertainment. Are the standard/average prices of these resort accommodations affordable for ordinary citizens?

Hello @storiesoferne, Yes, Sri Lanka is a small island so the residents have easy access to the beaches. Tourist resorts have spread almost everywhere as the tourist attraction has won.

The cost of accommodation and food in Bentota tourist resorts is higher than in other areas, making it a bit difficult for ordinary citizens to afford. They do business targeting foreigners and luxury people.
