Exterior distinctive architectural features seen in tourist resorts and buildings in Yaddehimulla tourist zone - Part 2

Hi my loving Architecture+Design community members,
What's up guys? I hope you are enjoying very well with loving once in this weekend. The content I presented three days ago showed about the external architectural features of the buildings that I saw during my visit to Unawatuna Yaddehimulla area. Since I could not cover everything in one content, I decided to publish a second part. While the first part covered one side, this content intends to cover the other side. In fact, if we are passionate about a subject, we are interested in researching it. In the same way, I like to look into the subject of architecture. So guys let's move on.

The Sky Breeze restaurant, built using natural materials such as wood, caught my attention first. The fact that various activities are organized for tourists in this restaurant is a very valuable activity. The beauty of the name board above the entrance is beautifully displayed at night by the light of the bulbs. The interest they have shown in choosing a logo for the nameplate should also be appreciated. It is beneficial for all to have an upfront display of the services provided by this restaurant. The walls used to surround the restaurant are made of wood. I have previously explained the value of using wood for restaurants and establishments because of its proximity to the sea.

Quite large tree trunks are placed in towers to support the roof. It can be termed as a significant architectural feature to have light bulbs installed inside the lanterns woven using cane. It makes me happy to see these kinds of shapes at this time when designs made from cane are less. In the past, Sri Lanka was at a high level in terms of cane industry, but it is a matter of regret that at present it is on the verge of destruction. There is more attraction for tourists for these types of designs made using wood.

Almost every restaurant has their menu displayed on the front, so visitors can think more about their food. Most of these restaurants have chosen wood for their dining chairs and tables. It can be mentioned especially as a way of attracting tourists because many tourists enjoy themselves in all places. Especially for the balcony parts, without using concrete cement, some attractively shaped pieces of wood will undoubtedly attract tourists.

While traveling around the Yaddehimulula area, we saw a tourist resort that looked like a royal palace. The balcony areas there and the shapes of the windows add special value. Only white, brown and light blue colors are painted in this building. Everyone uses brown for wooden balcony areas and windows because it is attractive. This tourist resort shows the eco-friendly concept by planting various types of trees and plants throughout the park.

It becomes more important to show the antiquity of any area even with some old buildings. Old buildings like this are very important especially since every region has its own culture and features. Among the buildings built following unique architectural elements, old buildings showing some traditional features can be seen in any area. At first glance, they may seem insignificant, but there are some ideas and conclusions that we can draw.

Look at the beauty inside the small restaurant selling ice cream and fruit juice. At first glance, it appears to be a clean place. Covered with transparent glass, the restaurant has all kinds of ice creams and fruit juices and prices displayed on its wall. You will find that the light emitted from the semi-dark bulbs inside is attractive. The beauty of the hanging ornamental plants near the entrance is reminiscent of the eco-friendly concept. The ice cream logo presented here will make anyone love to eat ice cream.

About a few months ago, I mentioned to you the elements of Dutch architecture in several articles. Orange and blue were the most common colors used for buildings built by the Dutch during Sri Lanka's colonial days. So it was a matter of happiness for me to see such a building reminiscent of colonial times in Yaddehimulla. You may notice that this is not very clear as the photo was taken while walking. But I always try to present you a photo that is simple or easy to get an idea from.

The first and second floors of this building are run as a tourist resort, with several jewelery shops on the ground floor. The doors of this resort are semi-circular, and the shapes used for the balcony parts are very beautiful. The resort is not eco-friendly because of the asbestos sheets on the roof. We all know that asbestos sheets are not good for human health. Due to that main factor, not many visitors stayed for this resort. According to my opinion, eco-friendly concepts should be created for every trip. Because then any tourist can visit the place again.

Some resorts use steel to construct their buildings, but they try to create unique and unique shapes for it. Many tourists are inevitably attracted to it because of the attractive architectural forms. It is always beneficial to use external stairs to reach upper floors because everyone's privacy is protected. During my visit, I noticed many tourist resorts with many staircases built outside.

The five-star araliya resort can be called the largest tourist resort located in Unawatuna Yaddehimulla area. This recently constructed building is a multi-storied tourist resort. As the room facilities and food and drinks are charged a lot, this hotel is booked only by high class people. We were not able to take photos inside as more security personnel were also waiting at the entry gate. But when you see the exterior photos of Araliya Resort, you will surely see that it follows a very eco-friendly policy. Special thanks must be given to the maintenance department for maintaining the most beautiful ornamental plants in a certain shape. Anchor sculptures are also displayed here. The anchor motifs indicate that this was a maritime trading town.

During my visit, when it was getting close to night time, I saw another beautiful restaurant with a roof made of dried coconut leaves. The light emanating from the electric bulbs inside it really spread in a natural way. Although it was a small restaurant, I was able to satisfy myself with the unique architectural construction elements.

A tourist resort in the form of an old pit with air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned room facilities next caught my attention. I mentioned that it really looks like an old pit because that kind of buildings existed in Sri Lanka in the past. Perhaps such an old building will undergo new changes and be made into a modern tourist resort.

At this time when a large number of foreign tourists are arriving in Sri Lanka, not so many tourists are seen in these restaurants and resorts, but the excellence of the unique arrangements used for them must be mentioned. You can be satisfied with the light of the electric lights at night in the special wooden chairs and table settings that are special for eating. It didn't look good in the photos, but I could see it live.

I got to see another unique architectural feature in a tourist restaurant. Look at the shape of the roof of this tourist restaurant. More colored tiles are used for this purpose. The colored tiles are designed in an eco-friendly way. Look at the frame above the windows of the tourist restaurant. It has light bulbs installed inside so that it glows in different colors. Below the roof, there is a special wood carving arranged in a very beautiful way. It is painted white. According to my experience, that recent creation is also a kind of engraving.

It can be understood from the black stones used how the above building, which is still under construction, is prepared as a fort. I have mentioned to you in the previous content how such forts are designed in the form of a strong black stone rampart. Such forts were created especially during the Portuguese and Dutch colonial period in Sri Lanka. The attempt to arrange the arched doors and windows makes me suspect that this is meant to remind me of the Dutch colonial period. However, trying to highlight the ancient cultural value through a tourist resort is highly appreciated.

Although I am not going to give a complete description of the architectural features of each building, I always try to give you an experience of it through photographs. I also do not hesitate to mention the architectural features of each building whenever possible. However, I understand that you can get a better understanding of the architectural elements from these photos because you also have good experience.

There are many buildings that you can see throughout the Unawatuna Yaddehimulla tourist area. I clearly understood that many buildings in that tourist area are places that serve many useful facilities for many tourists. I can clearly mention that the buildings in this area have the ability to fulfill anything that tourists need accommodation facilities, food and beverage facilities for tourists, money exchange activities for tourists, or clothes buying activities.
Throughout this content I have tried to explain the various architectural features of the buildings in this area and provide you with some tourist information. I believe that you were able to get a valuable idea from it. This is my second content submitted this week. I look forward to meeting with this kind of valuable content next week.

Yes of course. Interior looks more beauty than exterior.
What a beautiful place, I really liked the more rustic constructions, the ones with wood and the cane lampposts. I really like this kind of places, they look very warm and cozy.
Many people like to wood designs and cane lanterns . So tourists try to stay much time.

This was a very complete tour of the city, good tour, I was struck by the half walls of the buildings especially those that have two floors or more because they have some grilles with very nice details, that I have not seen from this side of the planet, I mean Latin America and it is something beautiful. Thanks for sharing @madushanka
