How to prepare a nutritious and spicy freshwater coraliya fish stew for our lunch...

What's up Hivers? I believe you are in good healthy in this difficult time and using your time for improve important works. Many Sri Lankans usually having rice and curry for every meals. Rarely eat another instant foods. But rural area citizens eat rice with nutritious curries for every meals. So yesterday we prepared delicious and spicy coraliya fish stew since our home. My wife given instructions to me for make this dish. Today I'm going to share the recipe of this freshwater fish stew.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams of coraliya fish

  • 200 g of chopped onion
  • 100 g of chopped capsicum
  • Finely chopped green chilies
  • Teaspoon of lime juice

  • Curry leaves
  • Two spikes of cloves
  • Six pieces of dry cinnamon bark
  • Two sprigs of crushed cardamom

  • Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • One and a half teaspoons of pepper powder
  • A teaspoon of curry powder
  • One and a half teaspoons of salt

  • Chopped garlic
  • Two teaspoons of crushed ginger
  • 1/4 cup of coconut milk
  • Two and a half tablespoons of oil
  • 50 g of parsley leaves

Preparing method

  • Put the chopped big onion in a bowl and add the chopped capcicum and green chilli.Now add the above mentioned turmeric, pepper powder, curry powder and salt. Add everything and mix well.

  • Now add a tablespoon of oil to the mixture. Mix well again. Then add the previously washed and chopped coral fish. Mix everything well again.Set aside for fifteen minutes after stirring.

  • Now put a pot on the stove and add one and a half tablespoons of the remaining oil to it.Once the oil is heated, add the chopped ginger first and then add the chopped garlic. Now when it is lightly fried add the curry leaves to it.

  • Add pre-prepared cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. Next, add the fish mixture prepared fifteen minutes earlier. Cover and simmer for 3 minutes.After three minutes, remove the lid and turn the fish over so that it does not break.

  • Do you remember the jar where the fish mixture was mixed earlier? Now add 1/4 cup coconut milk and mix well. Add it to the fish mixture on the stove. Cover it well and cook on medium heat for five minutes. After five minutes, add two teaspoons of lime juice. Turn off the stove and cover for ten minutes.

  • This is a delicious corali fish stew. Corali fish are good. With a change I added parsley leaves to decorate.

The food looks fantastic! and I appreciate you showing the tutorial on how to cook it one piece at a time. Personally I'm a vegetarian but I used to eat meat, and I could tell that stuff looks amazing!

I was also looking at your pan and notice that it's cut up a lot. You should check to see that pan coating is Teflon or some other nonstick surface, if so, you may be ingesting some of those Teflon flakes, and that is very bad for your health. Perhaps consider getting a new pan if you have the ability to. ❤️

Thank you for the recommendation @jacuzzi. I already considered to buy new pan because I think the same with what you mentioned here. Due to the quarantine curfew many aluminum shops here. When the shop will re-open again I definitely get new one.
