Hello my loving Hivers,

Warmly welcome to my hive blog. What's up Hivers? I really believe you are spending really happiness week with working hard.Three days ago, I posted an entry on this travel platform about my visit to the Sinharaja Rainforest, a major rainforest covering the Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces of Sri Lanka with high biodiversity value. You can view it through this content. There are several entrances to the Sinharaja Rainforest. The information I showed in the previous content was related to the Pitadeniya entrance, while this content provides information related to the Neluwa Lankagama entrance. This visit, which is located in a waterfall paradise, gave me the opportunity to gain more knowledge about the Sinharaja Rainforest. So stay with me and enjoy this beautiful trip.

On the Galle-Delawa road, after passing Neluwa town, we can reach Lankagama via Lankagama School Road and reach the entrance to the Sinharaja forest. The Sinharaja rainforest is fed by the Gin Ganga. When we looked through the trees and vines of the Sinharaja forest along the way, we could see the Gin Ganga flowing in a very beautiful way. The feeling we felt when we saw this scene of the river crashing against the obstacles of the rocks is indescribable.

The ranger mentioned that a species of bird called the Sri Lankan Blue Magpie is common in the area with the above nameplate, but we were unable to see any of the birds. After that, we were able to observe a very special sight. A very aggressive magpie was searching for its food by creating its own spider web. The fact that this aggressive magpie has woven its web covering a large space between the trees is a beautiful sight in nature. It is convenient that the Forest Department has used wooden blocks as a bridge to make it easier to cross the small stream.

Our tour guide introduced us to two species of lizards while we were walking in the forest. The first photo shows a special lizard called the horned lizard. It was motionless, as befits the photo. This brown-colored horned lizard is found on a brown tree, so it would not have been possible to find it if we had been walking alone. But from the experience of the guides, it was not a difficult task. Then we found a lizard with only a green neck, which was said to be endemic to Sinharaja.

Sinharaja Forest was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO a few years ago. After entering the Lankagama entrance, there are several places to stay in the Sinharaja World Heritage Site. These include the Gin Ganga Lodge, the Pitadeniya Lodge, and the Wanigasekera Lodge and Conservation Center. These are charged at various rates to tourists.

Our guide introduced us to a non-venomous snake that matched the green color of the Sinharaja rainforest. At first glance, it looked like a vine, not a snake. But when we got closer, it was crawling along a small tree. The guide said that it would not cause us any trouble. He also informed us that it would bite if we felt that we were causing it any trouble, but that it would not affect our body in any way. The beautiful views of nature could be seen in Sinharaja in this way. In some places, name boards were hung from the trees, making it a beneficial experience.

To get to the Pitadeniya bungalow, we had to walk on a wooden vine bridge. Although the bridge had supports on both sides, it swayed when most people walked across the bridge, which caused a bit of trepidation. If you let go of the supports and fall off the bridge, you could hit the rocks below the Gin River and cause accidents. It is important to experience the risks of such adventure activities while walking through a forest. We took selfies and photos of the surrounding environment of the forest while swinging from the top of the vine bridge.

The road leading to the Pitadeniya Bungalow is a junction that brings back very beautiful memories. Some places of the Gin Ganga are wavy, while some places show a clear flowing nature. After a slightly scary experience, we reached the place where the Pitadeniya Bungalow is located. It was actually built like a forest camp. The road here was made in a way that was easy to walk. The yellow building with architectural elements of an old Dutch building brought great pride to the entrance of Lankagama.

The Sinharaja Rainforest is not only a great place to explore by foot but also a great place to go mountain climbing. It goes without saying that it is also a great place to take a cold shower and bathe as per the instructions of the guides. One should walk carefully as there is a risk of slipping while crossing the waterfalls. Behind every danger lies a beautiful destination.

I mentioned to you earlier that some of the flowing branches of the Gin River are transparent and beautiful. You can also see that. Such places are more suitable for bathing as they are safe. We came across another beautiful snake created by nature, the non-venomous green snake called the Pala Polanga. It is difficult to find such a snake in a green environment. But for those who have experience, it is an easy task. These animals have been given different colors on their bodies to protect themselves from attacks from their enemies.

After entering the Sinharaja rainforest from the Lankagama entrance and passing through kilometers, we reached the most beautiful waterfall after a very difficult journey. We walked through slippery rocks and reached the beautiful destination. A foreign woman slipped on the difficult path to see the waterfall and was slightly injured. It was only a minor incident in such a risky journey. There were many freshwater fish in the places where the water flows below the waterfall, and when I was in one place, the fish attacked my feet. Fish therapy serves a very good service for our health. This was truly one of the most beautiful trips of my life.
