The fascinating architectural features seen in the tourist resorts of Rumassala, a tourist paradise.

Hello my fellow Architecture+Design community lovers,

What's up Hivers? I hope you are doing well with started new week. After a very busy few days I got a chance to enter the beautiful community again because yesterday was a Sunday. I always make an effort to absorb unique architectural elements through every visit. Accordingly, yesterday I made a trip to the Rumassala area of Unawatuna because I had the opportunity to see several tourist resorts with unique architectural features. These days, more opportunities have arisen for foreign tourists in Sri Lanka due to their increasing number of visitors. Therefore, the tourist resorts are specially designed to provide the necessary facilities to those foreign tourists. During my visit to Rumuswala area yesterday, several tourist resorts with unique architectural features caught my attention. This content tries to present details about it.

During my visit to Rumassala, the first thing that caught my attention was a green-lit tourist resort called Agnus. The entrance gate of the resort can be seen as very attractive. And the green color is seen on the walls of this tourist resort. Similarly, green decorative vines hanging from top to bottom on the wall have a very special attraction. The entrance to the tourist resort is also between those hanging decorative vines. It can be termed as a unique architectural feature to be seen in the Agnus tourist resort.

The next thing that caught my attention during the tour was a cabana built in the form of a tree house made of wood. Actually this was not opened for tourists because it was still partially completed. It is notable that a wooden staircase to reach the upper cabana has not yet been constructed. This cabana has been designed using strong wooden poles as supports. The interior of this cabana is also made of wood. And the area around here is covered with wooden belts.

A small tourist resort managed by a German national a few years ago has been renovated in a big and attractive way. Garden decoration can be mentioned as a valuable concept to attract tourists. In this way, the fact that ornamental plants have been planted in the interior and exterior of this tourist resort can be mentioned as a prominent feature. Tourists on the upper floors have the opportunity to enjoy the Indian Ocean. Some parts of the Rumassala area are located in a mountainous region, so tourists have the opportunity to enjoy this opportunity.

A small tourist resort was seen in another area belonging to the Rumassala mountain region. Only three tourists stayed there. I didn't get to see very special architectural elements in this tourist resort which was designed using modern architectural elements and equipment. However, tourists have the opportunity to view the Indian Ocean from the upper floor as well as from the lower floor, which is a unique feature of this tourist accommodation.

Although not a tourist resort, the above building, which is run as a lodge, actually has beautiful carvings that can be seen in the balcony area. The entrance gate is made of stainless steel, and glass is used for the upper and lower level windows. It is also noticeable that wood has been used for the window frames on the lower floor. Wooden frames are not used for upper floor windows.

Cement stones and cement pillars have been used for the above cabana, which is designed in an area around fields. This cabana is designed for gathering food and drinking parties among friends. During heavy rains, the lower floor cannot be used for these parties or for taking meals as it floods. If a strong foundation had been applied before the construction of this cabana, it would have provided a better solution for the rainy season.

The above tourist resort, which was started about two years ago, was stopped for a while due to the recent economic instability. But its construction work has started again. With the increase in tourists last year, this hotel can be mentioned as a good investment for the future because of this reconstruction work. The opportunity to stay at this hotel under high facilities for a large number of tourists as well as providing food makes the investment more beneficial because the profits increase. Work has already been completed on several floors, while work remains on only a few upper floors. As their construction has already started, this tourist hotel is ready to be made available to tourists in a very short time.

Moving further in the Rumassala area, I saw a building with ancient architectural carvings. I noticed that it was not really a building but a tourist resort. A very old type of carving is used for the window frame of the building. I can also mention the triangular shaped roof as an old architectural element. A circular shape is arranged on the upper wall. The balcony area and the stairs leading up were made of steel with unique shapes.

Most of the tourist resorts in Unawatuna Rumassala were roofed with tiles. More and more tourists are sure to pay attention to not using asbestos sheets which are more unsuitable for tourists' health. I could see with my own eyes that the tourist attraction of this area has increased due to the total roofing with more attention to the health of the tourists. The above resort has three floors and their glass exteriors are used for tourists to look at the sea.

From the building above you can see the most unique tourist resort that I have seen through my architectural exploration. Built in the form of a fort, the two side entrances to the resort reflect the arch shape of a fort. Clay bricks are used to make these gates and walls, which have similar elements to Dutch architecture. You can easily see that the clay bricks are left in their natural form and not painted, which adds more appeal.

For tourist resorts, the first thing tourists see before entering is the entrance. If the shape of the entrance is unique, more tourists are sure to come. In this way, gates with very unique shapes were used for the entrance gate of the tourist resorts in Rumassala area. One of the features that I noticed is that the use of wood is particularly remarkable. Due to its high availability in coastal regions, steel is prone to decay due to carrion attachment. As an answer to that, strong wood is used to construct gates.

The entrance gate filled with vines really caught my attention. but I was afraid that the vines would have snakes in the vines.
