Greetings from Sri Lanka. I hope you are doing well in this weekend. Another cold morning started today. I thought that it would not be possible to visit today because of a light rain. Fortunately, after about two hours, the rain and cold stopped and the sun began to shine. As I had planned the previous day, I was supposed to travel to Weligama, the most popular city among foreign tourists. My aim was to walk around the town of Weligama and get an understanding of the tourist hotels, resorts, lodges and restaurants built with different types of architectural elements. There are shops in the center of Weligama town to sell the things people need. Tourist lodges and resorts have been built continuously along the shores with architectural designs to attract tourists. Seafood is widely sold in this area. For that, there is a fishing port and a fish market separately in Weligama town. Anyone can easily stay here as there is a perfect beach for surfing.

The first thing that caught my eye was the Hill Bay resort which can be used for open bar, restaurant, rooms, pool, wedding hall and open stage. For the purpose of building more floors, after the first floor, no roof is built and left as a bare concrete slab. Ornamental plants have been planted in the small space at the front and a garden decoration has been added. Using brown painted wooden patterns for the first floor balcony fence is a successful plan to attract tourists. As it is in an open area, tourists can enjoy the caress of natural breezes.

I came across another charming restaurant that can use the rooftop for restaurant and bar. It appears that this hotel is made by combining two buildings. But both buildings separated from wall. The first building was built for accommodation. It was created using the architectural features of an old tourist resort.

The other building can be used for restaurant and bar activities. The hotel name is Hangtime hotel. The roof of the building to be used for restaurant activities is distinguished by the spread of dry coconut branches to give a atural look. On the upper floor of the restaurant, the pots of decorative flowers are hanging from the ceiling. For the balcony fence is used by adding pieces of wood. In fact, the concept of connecting with nature has been used in the creation of Hangtime hotel. Ornamental plants and trees were planted in the small garden to create a green environment.

A tourist resort called Dazzle Bay caught my attention. A combination of pink, blue, purple, grey and yellow colors gives a unique architectural look to the rooms. It was widely seen that the hotels in this Weligama area pay more attention to provide an environmental decoration by planting ornamental plants etc. in the garden. Creative wall paintings can be seen on the lower wall of this tourist resort. The hotel has been built using modern architectural concept.

The restaurant called The Natural Earth was literally a place where nature came first. A few foreign tourists can be seen enjoying the sea breeze at this place. The chairs and tables were made entirely of strong wood. Huts designed in the shape of an umbrella are installed for this open space. It is a perfect concept to cover the sun.

During my visit to Weligama, a hotel called O2, established in an attractive shape for accommodation and spa activities, caught my eye. Different kinds of trees were planted in the garden for the purpose of providing oxygen to the environment. The name of this hotel also means oxygen. A hotel that combines two buildings with an empty space in the middle. The rooms are completely covered with tinted glass. The upper floor was left as an open area to enjoy the breeze of the Indian Ocean.

Let's focus on a small niche created by the cascading balconies balcony area with mixed shapes. The entrance was a small one, and was surrounded by a wall of pieces of wood cut to the same shape. The upper wall of the ground floor is plastered with beautifully shaped stone pieces.

OYO Agra Lanka Beach Resort has a modern architectural style with roofs. But the shape of the entrance gate is old. Tourists also have the opportunity to enjoy the restaurant facilities here. The upper floor is still under construction and the roof work has been completed.

Proportionally combining pieces of wood painted in brown color, the wall section and the balcony area, mounted between small concrete pillars, have a very attractive look. It is noticeable that even the garden part has been planted with trees and added beauty. The windows have no special shape but have been given an interesting finish.

I stopped at another attractive hotel that maintained a beautiful garden environment. Look at the template on the wall surrounding it. The wall is built by laying the cut and polished stone pieces at the bottom, and iron bars are made like a fence at the top. It is a beautiful architectural feature to grow ornamental plants and vines so that the iron fence is not visible.

Next I could see a small scale restaurant serving Japanese food and other food made using natural wood and beautiful architecture. Even when I went to that area, there were more foreign tourists staying there. Strong wooden pillars are used to support the upper floor. A unique architectural feature is the use of wood instead of concrete in the dining area on the first floor. Perhaps the first floor sways like a tree house because of the use of wood. It is a beautiful experience for tourists.

Although these are small restaurants, they show a very attractive shape due to the appearance of the pieces of wood used for the balcony areas. It is a great opportunity for foreign tourists to enjoy a natural experience. Although small restaurants do not have a distinctive architectural feature, they stand out from each other with one very attractive feature.

While traveling in Weligama city, I was able to see a beautiful lodge built following a very beautiful architecture. The doors and windows of this lodge are made using glass. Asbestos sheets have been used for the roof and modern construction concepts have been used for it. Especially the balcony panels installed on the first and second floors bring a unique shape.

SeaView Guesthouse is also a lodge with attractive architectural features built close to Weligama Beach. The doors are made of strong wood painted in brown color. The unique wooden carvings on the doors highlight the architecture. Another beautiful arcarchitecture features can be seen in this lodge.

You all know that La Isla Bonita is a very popular song. A building with the same name was found in Weligama town, but it is not known if it is used for business because it was advertised for rent. Green and white paint adds more appeal.

Another tourist restaurant in the shape of cascading balconies caught my attention. It was shaped like the first floor of a small whaling ship. But its first floor doors featured beautiful wood carvings. The shape of the windows was also well designed.

The small restaurant with triangular shaped roof painted on wooden pieces in brown color was opened for local and foreign visitors. The yellow color inside and outside brings a glow to this small restaurant.

The restaurant called Kwaii has an attractive architecture. The name board and the wall surrounded by white wooden sticks win the tourist attraction no less. The wooden benches and chairs inside also provide convenience for tourists to eat. The tent-shaped open area on the second floor is interesting, as are electric lamps hanging from the ceiling on the first floor.

Three seasons at the tourist lodge, a lodge filled with beautiful vines finally caught my attention. It has been given an interesting look like a house that has been abandoned in the forest for quite some time. Such beautiful creations are sure to enchant any guest. Everyone loves the naturalness here.
