A society without privileges will fall apart. It's like an army where the generals eat like soldiers. You can revoke privileges, but they will be restored in other ways! People will still get what they can snatch in accordance with their position. So in this case, too, the son of an influential father makes full use of his privileges, confident in his impunity.

The whole idea of modern legal systems involved equality before the law. And some of the most successful armies actually have officers and even generals eat with the troops, out of the same pot.
