Leicester City vs Manchester United : The Game And Everything Back And Forth About The Red Devils

Manchester United are a pretty amazing team on paper now. With the likes of Sancho and Rashford and youngster Greenwood, along with the all conquering veteran in Cristiano Ronaldo. And defenders like Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane and David De Gea behind them, it's really hard to write them off from mounting a serious title challenge this time around. But things as of now are going south.

Just yesterday Manchester United travelled to the midlands and faced Leicester City. A team which is also only a shadow of what it was last season. But they're picking up pace. So the afternoon game saw the teams line up like this

Leicester: Kasper Schmeichel, Timothy Castagne, Caglar Soyuncu, Johnny Evans, Daniel Amartey, Ricardo Pereira, James Maddison, Boubakar Soumare, Youri Tielemans, Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho.

Man United: David De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho.

So the game started and Leicester were mostly playing on the counter attack. And United were more possession orientated. Well into the first half and Mason Greenwood scored a curling goal into the far top corner from a Bruno Fernandes assist. It was going all well for about 10 minutes. Then Youri Tielemans scored a goal from the edge of the box to make it 1-1 by the half hour mark. By now both teams have gone to full defensive mode and both are playing on counters. They both then got a few chances each but nobody could make a difference. And by half time it still remained 1-1.

And the second half started in an electrifying fashion by Leicester. They kept on attempting for a goal but couldn't get one. United also got some chances here and there but of no use. Finally the deadlock was broken by Caglar Soyuncu as he scrambled it home at the 78th minute. Leicester are finally leading at the king power stadium. But joy didn't last long. For it was Marcus Rashford who scored a beautiful long ball by defender Victor Lindelof to respond and make it all square again at 2 goals a piece by 82 minutes. But as soon as he scored, after that Leicester kicked off and Jamie Vardy scored an immediate goal from an Ayoze Perez pass. The whole thing happened in blistering pace. 3-2 to the foxes. Man United were all done and dusted by then. Then in stoppage time their new summer signing Patson Daka the young one got his first premier league goal for Leicester. Obviously it'll be the first of many for him. As he is a talent sought after and many a big clubs wanted his signature. Daka made it 4-2 and sealing the three points for Leicester. Man United were very sloppy defensively in this game.

Games like these are very important in the premier league. As in most cases it's that team lifting the trophy who usually win in those sort of situations. Dropping unexpected points is the first sign of not being a potential champion. Take Manchester City for example. They're not the most overwhelming team when it comes to facing the big clubs. But they don't drop unexpected points to relatively smaller teams. This is how they retain a good points tally. And also, Man United need to step up their pursuit in changing their coach. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a very good coach when it comes to building a team. He has built the team at Man United like he was supposed to do, like one of his own. That stranded United is actually United now. But what they need is a bigger character in the dugout. With no disrespect to Ole, he can't take the team to the next level. United are without a league trophy in the post Sir Alex era. This team of today has the ability to end that drought. But with Ole at the helm, it's a tide to difficult. As he lacks elite level tactical knowledge. Whether or not they change him, I'd like to see United bounce back. Obviously people at the club know a lot better. And this is just a spectator's perspective.
