A butt or market is set up for the convenience of the village people. There is no need for a market for the people of the city, because there are specific markets in the city, daily necessities are available in that market of the city. For this reason, there is no bazaar on any particular day in the city. There are markets in the city every day. Apart from specific markets in the city, there are many other shops on the sidewalks and in vans.

But there is no specific bazaar in the village where every day a market is held or a market is held to buy daily necessities. Now some villages may have a market for daily sitting, but most of the villages still do not need a market to buy daily necessities. All those villages have a market one or two days a week at a certain place, the people of that area buy their weekly necessities from that market.

And in all the villages that have a market every day and many in the cities too, even after getting daily essentials, there is a big haat every week. The bazaar offers daily necessities as well as many other things that are not available in the daily market. Like cow, goat, buffalo, duck, chicken etc.

In our village there is a haat every day, but every Wednesday of the week there is a big haat at a certain place, which we call Wednesday haat, and also called Ratankandi haat. Everything is available in our market. People come to our market from far and wide. Many people wait for a week to go to that market.

The pictures that I am sharing with you today are taken from today's market. Today is Monday, on this day of every week there is a market at Balugram Mor next to our madrasa. This haat takes one day every week but not much is available in this haat.

Only vegetables are available in this Monday market at Balugram Junction. All the daily essential curries are available in this market. Many things are available including potatoes, eggplants, peppers, onions. But there is much more to be found in the market once a week, as mentioned above. The daily market of our village is also bigger than this market.

There are a few sweet shops in this Monday market, which are open all the time and are constantly littered, there is only one clothes shop in this market, not much clothes. A friend of mine has a shop at Balugram intersection, he sells different types of perfumes, hats, tasbeehs. I go to this market every Monday and sit for a long time at my friend's shop.
