Today I wanted to share with you what I recently discovered while shopping with my sister: a new bookstore that recently opened in the north of my city. It's a fantastic bookstore that, in addition to having a huge selection of books, also sells stationery and art supplies, and even offers audiobooks—that is, the physical printed book with a CD containing the entire text. I think this is great because we all know that the world of literature is vast and there are many ways to experience it, not just visually or conventionally. Some people prefer to listen to books, which seems very practical when you're busy with other things but still want to hear a story.
Hoy quise compartir con ustedes lo que encontré recientemente mientras estaba de compras con mi hermana, se trata de una nueva librería que inauguraron recientemente en el norte de mi ciudad. Es una super librería que además de contar con muchísimos libros oviamente también venden material de papelería y arte, e incluso conceptos como audiolibros, es decir, el libro físico impreso con un CD en el que está grabado todo el texto, algo que me parece genial porque ya sabemos que el mundo de la literatura es muy amplio y existen diversas maneras de acercarnos a ella, no solamente de manera visual o convencional, hay personas que preferen oir los libros, lo que además parece algo muy práctico cuando estás ocupado en otros asuntos pero aún así quieres oír una historia.
The bookstore is huge, with two floors, and what I love most is that they have all the titles I've been looking for, from the classics to the newest releases. I say this because it's happened to me before that I'm looking for a classic book, like Don Quixote, and they don't have it, for some reason, haha. But the only downside is that they didn't have Alan Rickman's biography, something I've been desperately searching for for a long time. It's not really a biography per se, but rather a compilation of his personal diaries, with valuable information about his feelings, thoughts, and emotions while filming his movies. Anyway, it's a book that's been really hard to find.
La librería es gigante, cuenta con dos pisos y lo que más me gusta es que tienen todos los títulos que yo andaba buscando, desde los clásicos hasta los más nuevos, lo digo porue me ha pasado que estoy buscando cualquier libro clásico como por ejemplo Don Quijote de la mancha y no lo tienen, por alguna razón jaja, pero lo único malo es que no tenían la biografía de Alan Rickman, algo que estoy buscando desesperadamente desde hace tiempo. Y esque realmente no se trata de una biografía como tal, sino de una recopilación de sus diarios personales, con información valiosa de sus sentimientos, pensamientos y emociones mientras rodaba sus películas, pero en fin, es un libro que me ha costado mucho conseguir.
I found some great classics that I immediately added to my shopping cart (taking advantage of the amazing financing options we have in the country now, haha). I decided to buy The Wizard of Oz and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. However, I noticed that some titles were misorganized, meaning they were in the wrong section. For example, in the children's section where I got Robin Hood and The Wizard of Oz, there was Little Women (which should be in the young adult section) and none other than The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Encontré algunos clásicos buenísimos que desde luego metí en el carrito de compra (aprovechando que contaban con el sistema de financiamiento estrella que tenemos ahora en el país jeje) decidí comprar El Mago de Oz y Robin Hood, príncipe de los Ladrones. Sin embargo noté que algunos títulos estaban mal organizados, es decir, que estaban en la sección incorrecta, por ejemplo, alí en la sección infantil de donde saqué Robin Hood y El Mago de Oz, estaba Mujercitas (que debería ir en la sección juvenil) y nada menos que El Retrato de Dorian Gray.
The bookstore's decor was very original and avant-garde... and just look at the character I found here! Who do you think it is? "Disheveled hair" and round glasses, all he's missing is a lightning bolt scar on his forehead and there we have Harry Potter... and yes, speaking of Potter, the bookstore had a stand with the Hogwarts house editions of all the Harry Potter books (I need to update mine). This edition contains a few illustrations, like the Hogwarts map, the corresponding head of house (Rowena, Godrick, Salazar, and Helga), and a famous wizard from that house. However, these editions don't quite captivate me; I prefer the fully illustrated ones. I currently have the first editions published by Salamandra.
La decoración de la librería era muy original y vanguardista... y miren nada más al personaje que encontré por aquí ¿ustedes quién creen que sea? "Cabello alborotado" y lentes redondos, solo le falta una cicatriz en forma de rayo sobre la frente y allí tenemos a Harry Potter... y sí, hablando de Potter, allí en la librería tenían un stand con la edicion de las casas de Hogwarts de todos los libros de Harry Potter (yo necesito renovar los míos) esta edición contiene unas cuentas ilustraciones como el mapa de Hogwarts, el jefe de casa correspondiente (Rowena, Godrick, Salazar y Helga) y un mago célebre de esa casa. Sin embargo estas ediciones no llegan a encantarme, prefiero las que son totalmente ilustradas. Actualmente yo tengo las primeras ediciones que salieron de a editorial Salamandra,
