La Vaca (Review) (ESP/ENG)

I wanted to bring a good review to this community, so today I will talk about a book I read recently and despite being a best seller and hear many people talking about it I had never read it, it is “The cow” by Dr Camilo Cruz, a book about motivation and self-help that has generated a great impact on society.
Ya tenía ganas de traer una buena review a esta comunidad, así que hoy les hablaré de un libro que leí recientemente y que a pesar de ser un best seller y escuchar a muchas personas hablar sobre él yo nunca había leído, se trata de "La vaca" de Dr Camilo Cruz, un libro sobre motivación y autoayuda que ha generado un gran impacto en la sociedad.
The book is very deteriorated in its front and back cover, but it was like that when I borrowed it, even so this does not affect the interior, it is perfectly readable. It is a deep reflection that starts with a parable about a master who taught his disciple to get rid of conformism through an act that at the beginning can be confused with an atrocious act, since he killed the cow of a poor family and that was his only economic sustenance, Some time later when the master and the disciple return to the small and ramshackle house they realize that the family progressed a lot and that was because when they saw that they no longer had the cow as a livelihood they began to explore other options such as growing fruits and vegetables, in short, you can not be anchored to a single option.
El libro está muy deteriorado en su portada y contraportada, pero así estaba cuando me lo prestaron, aún así esto no afecta el interior, se puede leer perfectamente. Se trata de una reflexión profunda que parte de una parábola acerca de un maestro que le enseñó a su discípulo a deshacerse del conformismo a través de un acto que en un inicio se puede confundir con acto atroz, ya que mató la vaca de una familia pobre y ese era su único sustento económico, tiempo después cuando el maestro y el discípulo regresan a la pequeña y destartalada se dan cuenta de que la familia progresó muchísimo y eso se debió a que al ver que ya no tenía la vaca como sustento comenzaron a explorar otras opciones como cultivar frutas y verduras, en resumidas cuentas no puedes anclarte a una sola opción.
The author of this book explains that there are many ways to anchor us to conformism, as many people for fear of failure invent thousands of excuses not to generate a change in their lives, some settle for a mediocre marriage for fear of loneliness, or a job they hate just because they have a good salary and do not want to lower the standard of living, I believe that we are in charge of our own destiny and that we should not let other people's opinions affect our lives, we should follow our instinct, however there are certain things in which I totally differ from the author.
El autor de este libro nos explica que hay muchísimas formas de anclarnos al conformismo, ya que muchas personas por miedo al fracaso se inventan miles de excusas para no generar un cambio en sus vidas, algunas se conforman con un matrimonio mediocre por miedo a la soledad, o a un trabajo que odian solo porque tienen un buen salario y no quieren bajar el nivel de vida, no tienen la suficiente confianza en si mismos y esto es verdad, creo que nosotros tenemos las riendas de nuestro propio destino y que no debemos dejarnos llevar opiniones ajenas que afecten nuestra vida, debemos seguir nuestro instinto, sin embargo hay ciertas cosas en las que yo difiero totalmente del autor.
For example, I fully understand that we are the architects of our own destiny, but it bothers me a little that the author does not make us feel guilty for ALL our failures because it is not always so, there are things that are completely out of our control and that no matter how much effort we make we can not get, in my particular case, one of the things I have most wanted is to publish the books I have written and in my country I have only managed to get a publisher where I could do it but they charge me around 1300 dollars that I do not have and I could not get even pawning all my effort, the other option was self-publishing, which of course I tried but without any success, and so on there are things that are beyond our control.
Por ejemplo, comprendo perfectamente que somos artífices de nuestro propio destino, pero sí me molesta un poco que el autor no haga sentir culpables de TODOS nuestros fracasos ya que no siempre es así, hay cosas que salen completamente de nuestro control y que por mucho esfuerzo que hagamos no podemos conseguir, en mi caso particular, una de las cosas que más he deseado es publicar los libros que he escrito y en mi país solo he conseguido una editorial en la que podría hacerlo pero me cobran al rededor de 1300 dólares que yo no tengo y no podría obtener ni empeñando todo mi esfuerzo, la otra opción era la auto publicación, lo cual desde luego intenté pero sin éxito alguno, y así sucesivamente hay cosas que se escapan a nuestro control.
The author of the book calls “cows” to all the excuses, justifications and other obstacles that human beings have in their lives, some self-imposed and others acquired from friends and family, which prevent people from moving forward and achieving success, this is true to some extent because there are other factors that must also be taken into account because no matter how much power and self-confidence we have there are things that we simply can not control, we can adapt or try to overcome obstacles but for example we can not oppose nature, just to give an example.
El autor del libro llama "vacas" a todas las excusas, justificaciones y demás obstáculos que el ser humano tiene su vida, algunas autoimpuestas y otras adquiridas de amigos y familiares, que impiden que las personas avancen y obtengan el éxito, esto es cierto hasta cierto punto porque hay otros factores que también se deben tomar en cuenta ya que por mucho poder y autoconfianza que tengamos hay cosas que simplemente no podemos controlar, podemos adaptarnos o intentar sortear obstáculos pero por ejemplo no podemos oponernos a la naturaleza, solo por poner un ejemplo.
But something that I do agree with is that the author says that more than 82% of children who enter school between 5 and 6 years have great self-confidence when it comes to learning, but at age 16 the percentage of students who maintain that self-confidence drops to 18% and this is due to many external factors, harmful opinions of teachers and family, excessive criticism, and especially the fact that they are forced to study subjects that have nothing to do with their vocation, forcing them to focus on employment.
Pero algo que con lo que sí estoy de acuerdo es que el autor dice que más del 82% de los niños que entran a la escuela entre los 5 y los 6 años de edad tienen una gran confianza en sí mismos a la hora de aprender, pero a los 16 años el porcentaje de estudiantes que mantienen esa confianza en si mismos baja a un 18 % y esto se debe a muchos factores externos, opiniones dañinas de profesores y familiares, críticas excesivas, y sobre todo el hecho de que los obligan a estudiar materias que nada tienen que ver con su vocación, los obligan a enfocarse en empleos que generen dinero, no que refuercen su confianza, que los hagan sentir plenos y felices.
In short, it is a book worth analyzing and studying in depth to learn to identify the factors or habits that may be preventing our progress towards success. Well, thank you very much for reading this post, I will be here again soon with more content.

Sin duda es un libro que quiero leer. Comparto la opinión de que a nosotros mismos en ocasiones nos cuesta salir de nuestra zona de confort, principalmente por miedo a lo desconocido, a lo que pasará si intentamos algo diferente, pero que en realidad somos completamente capaces de hacer cualquier cosa que nos propongamos.
También concuerdo contigo cuando dices que hay cosas que se escapan de nuestras manos y por mucho entusiasmo que tengas, no puedes lograr, en ocasiones se necesita que otro crea en ti. Finalmente es muy cierto lo que dices del optimismo estudiantil, creo que hasta yo misma lo he vivido cuando recibo críticas negativas en áreas de trabajo que no son mi fortaleza, porque estamos en un sistema de enseñanza conductual que no permite salir de las 4 paredes en las que ha sido encasillado.

Eso es cierto, muchas veces las críticas nos cohíben y nos mancan de por vida, yo tuve una educación muy conductual, sobre todo en el cuarto grado y creo que eso mató en gran medida el gran entusiasmo que yo tenía antes además de la creatividad, afortunadamente con el paso de los años he podido recuperar al menos un poco de esto último, pero sí, la educación que recibimos es importantísima.
