Monomad Challenge - B/W Portraits

I am excited to share with you a gallery of black and white portrait photos that I will be using as entry to the #Monomad Challenge contest. I recently took these photos with my friend Yoherlis, and we were really happy with how they turned out.
I've always liked the simplicity and elegance of black and white photography. It allows me to focus on the subject's face and expression, without being distracted by color. For these photos, I wanted to create a timeless look that would feel both modern and classic.
I wanted to use the shallow depth of field to blur the background and focus attention on her face, for that I shot the photos in natural light using a 50mm lens with my Canon RP Camera.
we used a variety of poses and expressions to capture Yoherlis's personality. I wanted to show her playful side, as well as her more serious side. I also wanted to capture the different ways that light and shadow can play on her face.
In post-production, I started by adjusting the contrast and brightness to create a sharp, dramatic look. I then added some noise and a vignette to give the photos a more "old-fashioned" feel.
I'm really happy with the way these photos turned out, and I hope you enjoy them too.

Estoy emocionado de compartir con ustedes una serie de fotos de retratos en blanco y negro que usaré como entrada al concurso #Monomad Challenge. Hace unos dias atras tomé estas fotos con mi amiga Yoherlis y quedamos muy contentos con el resultado.
Siempre me ha gustado la sencillez y la elegancia de la fotografía en blanco y negro. Me permite centrarme en el rostro y la expresión del sujeto, sin distraerme con el color. Para estas fotos, quería crear una apariencia atemporal que se sintiera tanto moderna como clásica.
Quería usar la poca profundidad de campo para desenfocar el fondo y centrar la atención en su rostro, para eso tomé las fotos con luz natural usando una lente de 50 mm 1.8f, con mi cámara Canon RP.
Usamos una variedad de poses y expresiones para capturar la personalidad de Yoherlis. Quería mostrar su lado jugeton, así como su lado más serio. También quería capturar las diferentes formas en que la luz y la sombra pueden jugar en su rostro.
En la edicion, comencé ajustando el contraste y el brillo para crear una apariencia nítida y dramática. Luego agregué algo de ruido y una viñeta para darle a las fotos una sensación más "antigua".
Estoy muy contento con el resultado de estas fotos, y espero que a ustedes les gusten tambien.

¡Excelentes retratos! Me encantó el resultado de estas fotos con la profundidad de campo que le agregaste... Definitivamente los 50mm 1.8f son infalibles para estos retratos luminosos.

La idea de hacer algo atemporal me resulta bastante interesante y lo lograste a la perfección. Son unos retratos bastante hermosos, pero la primera fotografía es mi favorita.

These came out great! She’s a good model and quite pretty. I think the glasses she’s got adds a nice element to the pictures, particularly in black and white!
