How to Become an intelligent Student?
1) Attend all your classes
Many students skip classes for one reason or another.if you want good grades, there are so many reasons why one should always attend all classes
a) Always attend classroom lectures: even if the lecturer follow the textbook, sitting in the lecture room and listening to whatever the lecturer is discussing will help you gain alot from the lectures easily and so quickly.
b) Always make sure you gain attendance point. Almost all lecturers have there attendance policies, so one can make a direct impact on one grade simply by attending the lectures often by often.
c) Always makes sure you sit close to the front. historically, people who sit very close to the front are always usually the best students
(2) Be organized:
College is all about multitasking .here are some tips of getting organized
a) use a planner or other organizations system.
b) keep homework,tests,and class papers in central location. don't just put or pack old homework assignments or test on the floor of your room , keep all your class materials in a safe place and at the right time
3) Use of textbooks:
Lectures assign textbooks for a reason, it's to supplement the discussions of the lecturers in class. buy all textbooks and follow this tips for using them
a) Read all assigned materials: when lecturers assign a chapter, read the whole chapter (unless you are told otherwise)
b) know what is critical at the same time know what part of the texts are most critical.
c) use outlining system to help yourself to comprehend materials so quick and easily. reading, studying and highlighting the materials in the text is just the minimum.
To get the most of whatever you are reading, you should also make sure you take notes and outline the material well.
4) Master your lecturers:
All lecturers has a different type of skills and system in lecturing his/her students, so it really makes sense as early in the semester to learn what the lecturers wants and otherwise. here is a way to master your lecturers
a) most lecturers gives students the class syllabus during the first week in class and it is the students responsibility to know all the requirements for the course.
5) use your time very wisely:
Even if You are not an organized person , time is one enemies in the college
a) Tackle the harder work first: study the harder stuffs first so that you are sure you have enough time to complete it.completing the work in this order
b) Take a break as rewards for work: reward yourself for completing a major task by taking a break and chatting with a friend or watching some television programmes or movies.not only are the break good motivation to help you complete something, you will also be more refreshed to tackle the next bit of work after the break
c) Do not over extend yourself: learn to say no. Apart from the academic work, you will be engage in some social events like clubbing and so on but you must learn to say no to some demand of your time.
d) work hard to play hard: you can work hard to play hard and that's a good balance.just make sure you do the work first.
6) Become "Noteworthy":
Another reasons for been intelligent is recording the class notes, this notes are vitals clues to what the lecturers think is the most important material for you to learn. so, aside taking notes, learn how to use them to your very own advantage. Here are some specifics ways to be noteworthy
a) Be an active listener in class. Don't read any types of news gossips with friends during lectures, or chat with your friends during lectures. instead, listen attentively and actively asked for clarification when you need it. also off your phone to avoid distraction.
b) Take good notes in class. Either taking notes from scratch or following a lectures outline, the key for you will be to get the most important informations down so that you can easily and quickly refer back to them when you need them.
7) Study, study, and study
a) study very early and often: always study very hard and very early to improve you. On been intelligent
b) Develop and practice good study habits: Make it a habit and studying will become second nature to you.
c) know and observe how you study best, some usually need noise to understand what they are reading and some doesn't need noise to understand what they are reading
d) study with friends to receive more enough support,but don't turn it into any social events e.g clubbing and so on.A study partner can be a great reserved to get studying more easier
e) Make sure work is done before socializing. studying is very critical learning, so make sure you do the work before heading out to have fun.
Tips to make learning permanent
creat a study space: defining a specific study space that is free from distractions such as cells phone, television and family interruption
pretend that you will have to teach what you have learnt:
Study in short, frequent sessions: it's had been proven that short bursts of concentration repeated frequently are much more effective than one long session
