What’s up Splinterlands players!

I hope you all are having an awesome day with your friends and family and also enjoying this amazing play2earn game on daily basis. If you are a dedicated player, you must know that another Splinterlands ranked season has ended just yesterday and a new one has also started. So, I hope by now all of you have collected your season rewards. I also played well in the last season and as I have shared in my previous posts, I have quite playing in Champ league and came down to Diamond league to try for the top leaderboard positions. The reason behind this was obviously to win a big chunk of dec at the end of season while in Diamond rather than trying to collect rewards chests in a higher league because I am getting shitty outcomes from reward chests for quite some time and I guess the situation is pretty same with most of you.

But luckily, my decision has become fruitful because since these last 2 seasons, I have successfully secured myself a place in the leaderboard. The previous season I secured the second place and booked 80k dec as rewards whereas in this season I pushed myself even further and secured the first place and got rewarded with a whooping 100k dec for achieving the top place in diamond league. I depended mostly on my own cards and only rented 1 card during the last 2 days of season, a max level Byzantine Kitty summoner and my God it worked like a charm like it does every-time and that clearly justifies why this card is still one of the most costliest summoner in splinter universe.

On an another note, the team blasted a big bomb last night in the town hall meeting where they announced that the current CP (collection power) system will get replaced by staking SPS . Soon after they announced it in the chat, This new update suddenly became the hot topic in hive and I am literally seeing everyone talking about it where some are supporting it and some are going against this update. Well, this didn’t get appeared suddenly as they have already talked about it in the past and gave us hint and you can even see this being mentioned in their roadmap as well. But, many of the players and investors are frustrated with the high threshold level of staked SPS that one need in order to grind good rewards in future for playing the game. To be honest, I also got a little spike in my heart rate when I saw the staked SPS threshold chart for the first time un where to play in Diamond I, one would need to have 177k+ staked SPS (or delegated) in their account and the amount even gets increased way more in Champ I where one would have to stake 413k+ SPS as a requirement! I was kind of surprised to see the huge amounts on the sheet but later when I grinned deeper into this particular update which is about go live in next quarter of 2023, I found out some more facts regarding this and realised that this update is not even that bad for both the players and the game economy. Let me share my thoughts on why I think that..

image.png

First of all, the staked SPS requirement in the above chart does not represent the threshold level or an eligibility criteria to play into a certain league. Even if you don’t have the amount for a tier as shown in there, you can still play in any league or tier and it will only affect the amount of rewards you get by playing in that tier. The SPS amount that are being shown in the chart above simply tell how much staked SPS you need to grind 100% of the rewards allocated to players for that particular tier. If you play in any of of that tier while having lesser amount of SPS, you will only get a reduced amount of SPS as rewards but it will certainly not make you ineligible to play at all. The founder of the game Yabapmatt shared a formula about how this new reward sharing will work in the maverick chat as you can see in the screenshot below.

Now, the more SPS you have staked or being delegated to you, the more rewards you will earn from a certain league and while the chart above represents the amount of staked SPS you need to secure 100% of the allocated rewards, the bigger chart that I have shared below represents how much percentage of the rewards you will get from a certain tier based upon your staked SPS at that time. Let me discuss with a small example from that chart. While playing in Diamond I tier, in order to secure 100% of the rewards you need a giant stake of 177,731 staked or delegated or a combination of both into your account but if you have at least 35,546.20 staked SPS amount, you can still get 50% of the allocated rewards. I would suggest you to follow the tier you generally play with to discover your earning potential after the update gets live.

Even more surprisingly, if you look at the the right side of the chart and after the 100% column, you can see that there’s an opportunity to earn even beyond 100% cap if you can have a massive amount of SPS in your bag. For example, if you have 888,655 staked SPS in your account, you will earn 125% of the allocated rewards! That is some serious good new for large SPS stakeholders.

As for conclusion, I would say that after understanding the new reward structure I am now happy with this upcoming grand change in Splinterlands. Weren’t we got tired seeing the SPS depreciating it’s value everyday and thus most of us were asking more real use cases and utilities of SPS for a long time and now that finally it’s here, we have to act accordingly. This update will surely help both players by incentivizing them more respecting the amount of SPS they are holding and also help the token and the game to boost it’s economy without a doubt. I am playing in Diamond league and right now sitting on around 78k staked SPS, so with this update I will be getting between 70-80% of the allocated rewards. But if you think about the other side, many of the players wont have a large SPS stake and thus they will be receiving far less rewards even after playing in the same league, so that simply means the large stakers will fetch way more amount of SPS as rewards than they are getting now. I am really motivated with this new upcoming update as it is giving us a chance to earn more if we invest strategically.

I hope you liked reading post above and please note that there are all my personal opinions and I am not a financial expert. So, please do your own research before investing in Splinterlands or in any other crypto project as it’s your money. Please do let me know your thoughts about this upcoming grand update in the comments below and I will be seeing you all in my next post.

No lo veo como algo bueno. Si invitas a un jugador nuevo que no tenga ese monto de SPS y le dices que tendrá menos recompensa.
Luego tendrá menos recompensa si usa las cartas iniciales.
Tendrá menos recompensa si no usa cartas a máximo nivel.

But the Price of NFTs are still going down sir. All the pro players are already started to sold their NFTs at low cost. As a Newbie I don't know what to do. Should I have to buy cards or just staked the SPS for now ?
