A Balcony Flooded with Memories

Happy Thursday my people and I hope you are having a great day, today I come with my last illustration for the blog and it is something a little more to free theme that I made a couple of days ago; or well thinking about it if it has some relationship with the theme of melancholy, but in a very subtle and cam way. My drawing today is about a tender young girl whom I called by the name of Bilma, which is going through a great sadness because she was forced to leave her home because of the war; but not only she left behind her home, her family and her friends, she also had to leave behind the love of her life and which she does not know if she will ever see again:

Feliz jueves mi gente y espero que estén teniendo un gran día, hoy les vengo con mi última ilustración para el blog y se trata de algo un poco más a temática libre que realice hace un par de días atrás; o bueno pensándolo bien si tiene cierta relación con la temática de la melancolía, pero de una manera muy sutil y leva. Mi dibujo de hoy se trata de una tierna joven a la cual llame por el nombre de Bilma, la cual es esta atravesando una gran tristeza a causa de que se vio forzada a abandonar su hogar a causa de la guerra; pero no solo dejo atrás su hogar, su familia y sus amigos, también tuvo que dejar atrás al amor de su vida y el cual no sabe si volverá a ver de nuevo alguna vez:

PROCESS / PROCESO

I started my drawing having as main idea that the work would be developed in a city balcony, this new city in which Bilma lives now totally alone and away from the people she loves; I draw her with her arms resting on a balcony of one of the terraces of the city with a completely open night sky behind her back. Unlike my last illustrations where I used very reddish and saturated tones for the skin, in this case I decided to use a very soft Salmon tone to work on the skin; then I created layers and layers one on top of the other and in each one I applied the corresponding colors so that the character would come to life with very soft strokes.

Empecé mi dibujo teniendo como idea principal que la obra se desarrollaría en un balcón de ciudad, esta nueva ciudad en la cual Bilma vive ahora totalmente sola y alejada de las personas a las que ama; le dibujo con sus brazos apoyados en un balcón de una de las terrazas de la ciudad con un cielo nocturno completamente abierto a sus espaladas. A diferencia de mis ultimas ilustraciones donde use tonos muy rojizos y saturados para la piel, en este caso me anime a usar un tono Salmon muy muy suave para trabajar la piel; luego fui creando capas y capas una sobre la otra y en cada una fui aplicando los colores correspondientes para que el personaje fuera cobrando vida con trazos muy suaves.

With the skin finished the next step was to define it better with shadows and glosses and of course adding warmth to Bilma's face since she is a tender and lively young woman, what I did was to add a little blush with airbrush and blurred slightly to blend with the colors of the skin below; after having a more compact skin I moved on to what would be the creation of the eyes and lips with a little more patience, since these sections take a little more detail. For the eyes I opted to use tones like light green, olive green in an ascending way and tones close to white, and for the lips tones a little more towards the orange range; little by little I defined the shape of the eyes and lips and then I blurred a little with a small brush, and finally I added some shadow and glosses to give some more life.

Con la piel terminado el siguiente paso fue ir definiéndola mejor con sombras y brillos y por supuesto agregando calidez al rostro de Bilma ya que se trata de una joven tierna y vivas, lo que hice fue agregar un poco de rubor con aerógrafo y difuminaba levemente para mezclar con los colores de la piel de mas abajo; luego de tener una piel más compacta ya pasé a lo que sería la creación de los ojos y los labios con un poco mas de paciencia, ya que estos apartados llevan un poco mas de detalle. Para los ojos opte por usar tonos como el verde claro, verde oliva de manera ascendente y los tonos cercanos al blanco, y para los labios tonos un poco mas hacia la gama de los anaranjados; poco a poco definí la forma de ojos y labios y luego difumine un poco con un pincel pequeño, ya por ultimo añadí un poco de sombra y brillos para dar algo más de vida.

I painted the hair with a dark gray color and only lightened a little the reliefs so it didn't look too flat or inanimate, then with the bristle brushes I was building the locks of hair in a more free and loose way so that they looked a little more realistic; after having the hair ready I went entirely to the painting of the clothes that in this case would be a kind of dress quite loose in the sleeves and arms. Here basically what I did was to work with textures a little more defined, I made the strokes with the watercolor brush to define what would be the folds of the dress in a quite natural way, and then with a much flatter brush with 95% opacity I was defining better the folds and finer wrinkles while blurring a little; as a final touch I added some final glitters for that last elegant touch to the dress.

El pintado del cabello lo hice con color gris oscuro y solo aclare un poco los relieves para que no se viera muy plano o inanimado, luego con los pinceles de cerdas fui construyendo los mechones de cabelle de forma mas libre y suelta de manera que se vieran un poco mas realistas; luego de tener listo el pelo me pase enteramente al pintado de la ropa que en este caso seria una especie de vestido bastante holgado en las mangas y brazos. Aquí básicamente lo que hice fue trabajar con texturas un poco mas definidas, hice los trazos con el pincel acuarela para definir lo que serian los pliegues del vestido de manera bastante natural, y luego con un pincel de punta mucho mas plana y con opacidad al 95% fui definiendo mejor los pliegues y arrugas más finas mientras difuminaba un poco; como ultimo toque agregue unos brillos finales para ese último toque elegante a la vestimenta.

At the end I only dedicated myself in 2 or 3 layers to create the scenery of the work, first I gave shape to the balcony where Bilma is lying looking into the distance and I created it with an appearance and textures like concrete with a lot of gray and light green to give the feeling that it really is a balcony railing of a city; for the background I created a dark night with some stars in the sky, also some clouds which accompany the big full moon that illuminates the whole scene.

Ya al final solo me dedique en 2 o 3 capas a crear el escenario de la obra, primero di forma al balcón donde Bilma se encuentra recostada mirando a la distancia y lo cree con una apariencia y texturas como de concreto con mucho color gris y verde claro para dar la sensación de que realmente es un barandal de balcón de ciudad; para el fondo cree una noche oscura con algunas estrellas en el cielo, también algunas nubes las cuales acompañaran a la gran luna llena que ilumina toda la escena.
