Crystall, a Night Sigh

Good evening my friends, I hope you had a great day full of productivity, today I want to present a work where I focused on painting something free and a little light theme; that is why I decided to create Crystall. If you think about it a little better, it is a work that is very related to the melancholy or sadness theme, in it I create Crystall in a kind of open night balcony; sitting on the edge of the ledge while she is sad or saddened by something that recently happened to her:

Buenas noches mi gente, ojalá que hayan tenido un grandioso día lleno de productividad, hoy les quiero presentar una obra donde me enfoque en pintar algo a temática libre y un poco ligera; es por ello que decidí crear a Crystall. Está pensándolo un poco mejor es una obra muy relacionada con la temática de melancolía o tristeza, en ella cree a Crystall en una especie de balcón de noche abierta; sentada en el filo de la cornisa mientras se muestra triste o afligida por algo que recientemente le ocurrió:

For the character I had in mind, I wanted to create a young girl, maybe a teenager, with a slight expression or aura of regret, especially in her face; I made soft and delicate strokes to create Crystall exactly as I had her in my head. Once I had created the sketch I wanted and had outlined it very well, it was there that I could begin to apply the colors and in this case I varied a little and decided to use the airbrush a lot; I painted the skin with a very light tone because I had thought to create a very blonde Crystall; I painted the clothes with an intense brown and the hair with yellow.

Para el personaje tenía pensado en crear a una chica joven, quizás adolescente con ligera expresión o aura de pesar, sobre todo en su rostro; fui realizando trazos suaves y delicados para poder crear a Crystall exactamente como la tenia en mi cabeza. Una vez pude crear el boceto que deseaba y luego de delinearlo muy bien, fue ahí donde pude comenzar a aplicar colores y en este caso varie un poco y decidí usar mucho el pincel aerógrafo; la piel la pinte de una tonalidad sumamente clara pues tenía pensada crear a Crystall muy rubia; la vestimenta la pinte con un marrón intenso y el pelo de amarillo.

I started the skin with the airbrush to get a little more softness around the edges, but I also decided to use a lot of watercolor to give the skin more realistic volume from the inside out; I added a little shape and volume to the nose, eyelids and a little to the cheeks. Once I was done with the deep shadows and the occlusion of the skin, I could concentrate on detailing the face, I painted a light blush on the cheeks with a soft red, and then I continued with the eyes; this time I decided to paint the eyes in a very bright and bold green color, I painted the lips in a red similar to the cheeks so that they would match better.

Empecé la piel usando el pincel aerógrafo para tener un poco mas de suavidad en los bordes, pero también decidí usar mucho la acuarela para ir dándole volumen mas realista a la piel desde adentro hacia afuera; fui creando un poco de forma y volumen a la nariz, parpados y un poco a las mejillas. Una vez termine con las sombras profundas y de oclusión de la piel ahí ya pude concentrarme mejor en seguir detallando el rostro, pinte un ligero rubor en las mejillas con un rojo suave y después seguí con los ojos; en esta ocasión me anime a pintar los ojos de un color verde bastante llamativo y resaltante, los labios los pinte de un rojo similar al de las mejillas para que combinaran mejor.

Painting the clothes took me a little longer, normally I just airbrush the dresses lightly, but this time I wanted to add a little more detail and texture, so I used the watercolor brush a lot with different shades and low opacity so the colors on top would blend better with the colors below. I managed to mix and get a textured look for the dress, which I really liked; then the hair was a little easier to finish, I used an open-ended brush with 50% opacity, so it blended better with the base and the relief below.

El pintado de la ropa fue quizás donde me tarde un poco más, normalmente me dedico a pintar los vestidos de forma ligera solo con aerógrafo, pero en esta ocasión quise imprimir un poco mas de detalle y textura; es por eso que use mucho el pincel acuarela con varios tonos y a baja opacidad para que los colores de arriba se mezclaran mejor con los de abajo. Logre mezclar y conseguir un texturizado para el vestido que realmente me gustó mucho; después el cabello fue un poco más fácil de terminar, ahí use un pincel de puntas abiertas al cual le baje la opacidad a un 50%, y así logre que se acoplara mejor con las base y el relieve de abajo.

For the last part I wanted to add some extra details to my drawing and finally I decided to create a nice necklace for Crystall, which as you can see I had not planned in the original sketch hehehe; here I did not invent too much and decided to play it safe and create the necklace out of shiny gold with a red gem right in the middle. Then what I had to do was to finish my work in a good way, and for this I did what I did to conceptualize or give shape to the open night; I created a small gradient between blue and orange to give the idea of the transition from evening to night, and I also added some clouds.

Ya para la ultima parte quería agregar algún detalle adicional a mi dibujo y finalmente opte por crearle un lindo collar a Crystall, que como verán no tenía planificado en el boceto original jejeje; aquí no invente demasiado y decidí irme por lo seguro y crear el collar hecho de oro brillante con una gema roja justo en el centro. Después lo que me quedaba por hacer era terminar de buena forma mi obra, y para esto lo que hice fue conceptualizar o darle forma a la noche abierta; cree un pequeño (gradient) entre azul y naranja para dar la idea de la transición entre tarde y noche, y también añadí algunas nubes.
