Digital Art | Nerezza: Original Character Concept for a Mystical Elf 🧝🏼‍♀️

Good afternoon, my dearest #Hive readers! Happy Friday to everyone—I hope you’re having a fantastic end to your week. It’s your friend Manuel here, and I’m very excited to share a new digital illustration I worked on full-time during these past couple of nights. On this occasion, I decided to lean into an Original Character Concept focused on the theme of elves and mystical creatures, introducing Nerezza! My main idea for Nerezza was to create a mischievous, malevolent elf—someone who might look like a good person at first glance, but hides deep darkness in her heart. She also possesses an intense glowing blue gaze that can hypnotize even the largest creatures in existence! I hope you really like this concept, and here is a breakdown of my creation process!

Muy buenas tardes mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras de #Hive, feliz viernes para todos, espero que estén teniendo un excelente fin de semana. Por aquí los saluda su amigo Manuel, muy emocionado de compartirles una nueva ilustración digital en la que estuve trabajando a full durante este último par de noches. En esta oportunidad, quise enfocarme en un Concepto de Personaje Original (Original Character Concept) orientado a la temática de las elfas y criaturas místicas para presentarles a Nerezza. Mi idea para Nerezza era que transmitiera una esencia un poco pícara y malevolente, como alguien que parece ser una buena persona, pero que dentro de su corazón esconde mucha maldad, poseyendo al mismo tiempo una mirada azulada intensa capaz de hipnotizar hasta a las criaturas más grandes que existan. ¡Espero que les guste mucho esta idea y aquí les compartiré un poco del proceso para que lo aprecien mejor!

PROCESS / PROCESO

For the concept and character design, I chose an alluring yet intimidating portrait pose of Nerezza softly playing with a strand of her blue hair. I drew her featuring reddish-bronze skin tones, prominent pointed elven ears, nose piercings, glowing cyan-blue eyes, stylish blue hair tied up, intricate facial markings on her forehead and neck, tribal-style tattoos on her arm, and a white top outfit with shoulder straps.

Para el concepto y diseño del personaje, elegí una pose de retrato seductora pero intimidante de Nerezza jugando suavemente con un mechón de su cabello azul. La dibujé luciendo tonos de piel rojizo bronce, orejas élficas puntiagudas prominentes, aros en la nariz, ojos brillantes en azul cian, un peinado alto en tonos azules, marcas faciales intrincadas en la frente y el cuello, tatuajes de estilo tribal en el brazo y un top blanco de tirantes.

For the details and rendering, I worked carefully on smoothing her skin gradients, facial contours, and the soft folds of her clothing using soft airbrush techniques. I detailed the glossy highlights on her blue hair strands, rendered the metallic sheen on her facial piercings and strap buckles, and polished the intense, luminous glow radiating from her blue eyes to emphasize her spellbinding gaze.

Para los detalles y el renderizado, trabajé cuidadosamente en suavizar los degradados de la piel, los contornos del rostro y los pliegues suaves de su vestimenta mediante la técnica de aerógrafo. Detallé los reflejos brillantes en sus mechones de cabello azul, rendericé el brillo metálico de sus aros faciales y hebillas, y pulí el intenso resplandor luminoso que emana de sus ojos azules para enfatizar su mirada hipnótica.

For the magical elements, lighting, and environment, I set the scene against a dark background with fiery golden-red light glowing behind stylized lattice openings. The intense warm ambient light coming from behind casts dramatic rim lighting along Nerezza's hair, shoulders, and silhouette, contrasting strongly with the cool electric blue of her mesmerizing eyes.

Para los elementos mágicos, la iluminación y la ambientación, ubiqué la escena sobre un fondo oscuro con una ardiente luz dorado rojiza que resplandece detrás de aberturas estilizadas. La intensa luz ambiental cálida que proviene desde atrás proyecta un marcado contraluz sobre el cabello, hombros y silueta de Nerezza, logrando un fuerte contraste con el azul eléctrico de sus ojos hipnóticos.
