Digital Art | Vinnellyah, Melancholic Dark Angel

Good evening on this Friday, my dearest readers in the #Hive art community! I hope everyone here on my art blog is having a great start to the weekend. For those of you who don’t know me yet, let me introduce myself: my name is Manuel, and this is my art blog, where I share each and every one of my daily creations. Today I’m here to share a piece I finished just yesterday. It’s a new illustration inspired by the theme of dark angels or winged creatures. In this case, I decided to draw this angel girl, whom I’ve named (Vinnellyah), and my idea for her was to illustrate her in a slightly melancholic style, reflecting a certain doubt or uncertainty in her gaze:

Muy buenas noches de viernes mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras de la comunidad artística de #Hive, feliz inicio de fin de semana para todos los que se encuentran por aquí por mi blog de arte en esta nueva oportunidad, para quienes aun no me conozcan pues me presento, mi nombre es Manuel y este es mi blog artístico, donde comparto todas y cada una de mis creaciones del día a día. En esta oportunidad les vengo a compartir una obra la cual terminé apenas ayer, se trata de una nueva representación inspirándome en la temática de los ángeles oscuros o criaturas aladas, en este caso decidí dibujar a esta chica ángel a la cual decidí llamar por el nombre de (Vinnellyah), y mi idea para ella fue ilustrarla con un estilo un poco como melancólico, reflejando cierta duda o incertidumbre en mi mirada:

PROCESS / PROCESO

I started with a small sketch of the main character—in this case, Vinnellyah—giving her a pose as if she were sitting on the ledge of a window or balcony. I drew her in my own illustration style, giving her proportions and a fairly semi-realistic appearance. As for the coloring, I decided to start working on the skin using fairly opaque tones from my color palette. With an opaque green, I began applying airbrush strokes to give shape and volume to the arms, neck, bust—in short, all the visible areas of skin.

Empecé con un pequeño bosquejo o boceto del personaje principal, en este caso (Vinnellyah), adoptando para ella una pose como si se encontrara sentada en la cornisa de una ventana o balcón, la dibujé apegado a mi estilo propio de ilustración dándole proporciones y apariencia bastante semi realista. En cuanto al coloreado decidí empezar el trabajo de la piel usando tonos bastante opacos que tenia en mi paleta de colores, con un verde opaco comencé a realizar trazos de aerógrafo para ir dándole forma y volumen a los brazos, cuello, busto, en fin, todas las zonas de piel que estuviesen visibles.

For the eye painting, I used a base of opaque shades similar to those of the skin base, and then, in a new layer, I began to work on the eyes. For this, I used a range of slightly warm yellow tones to give my character a more tender appearance; As for the lips, I used slightly more medium-brown shades and used the airbrush to give them shape, volume, and shine. For the hair, I stuck with the same brown shades I’d used for the lips, and with my watercolor brush, I set out to create a slightly short hairstyle with a few more unruly strands.

Para el pintado de los ojos usé una base de tonos opacos similares a los de la base de la piel, y luego en una nueva capa comencé a trabajar la mirada, y para esto use una gama de tonos amarillos un poco cálidos que le dieran una apariencia más tierna a mi personaje; en cuento a los labios use tonos un poco mas marones intermedios y con el aerógrafo me encargue de darles forma, volumen y también brillo. Para el pintado del cabello mantuve los mismos tonos marrones que había usado para los labios y con mi pincel de acuarela me propuse crear una cabellera un poco corta y con mechones un poco más rebeldes.

For the outfit, I wanted to use muted green tones to create what would be a sort of casual, vintage-style dress; in this case, I didn’t use very stiff brushes, but rather a more subtle airbrush. As for painting the large wings—and since this is a dark angel—I decided to give the wings a bat- or vampire-like appearance, using brown tones and a rough-textured brush to make the wings look more realistic.

Para la vestimenta quise usar tonos verdes opacos para crear lo que seria una especie de vestido casual con estilo antiguo, en este caso no use pinceles muy rígidos, sino un aerógrafo mas sutil. En cuanto al pintado de las grandes alas, y en este caso como se trataría de un ángel oscuro decidí crear sus alas con apariencia como de alas de murciélago o vampira, en este caso tonos marrones y un pincel de textura rugosa para darle una apariencia mas realista a las alas.
