Monicca, Soul Breaking Tears

Very good afternoon 😃🙋‍♂ my dear people of #Hive, I hope you are very well and I welcome you once again to my art blog; I had already many days wanting to do a work where the predominant colors were very warm shades, such as browns, yellows and that and so I got down to work to create this illustration which I titled (Monicca, Tears that Break the Soul). For this drawing I focused on creating a female character which in this case is Monicca, but I also wanted to add the essence of melancholy to the illustration; as if she was going through a strong disappointment in her life:

Muuuy buenas tardes 😃🙋‍♂ mi querida gente de #Hive, espero que estén super bien y les doy la bienvenida una vez mas a mi blog de arte; tenía ya muchos días queriendo hacer una obra donde los colores predominantes fueran tonalidades muy cálidas, como marrones, amarillos y eso y por ello me puse manos a la obra para crear esta ilustración a la cual titule (Monicca, Lagrimas que Rompen el Alma). Para este dibujo me enfoque en crear un personaje femenino que en este caso de trata de Monicca, pero también quería añadir la esencia de melancolía a la ilustración; como si ella estuviera pasando por una fuerte desilusión en su vida:

PROCESS / PROCESO

Basically to start building my character for this drawing I focused on looking for poses where she was sitting or resting on a chair or wall, finally I chose to draw her as if she was sitting at a table while enjoying the company of a cigarette; all this while her lost look perfectly reflects how her soul feels. The colors as I said before I wanted them to be warmer tones or focused towards brown tones, that's why I started to paint the skin having that idea as a base; for the dress I used a chocolate brown tone that I like a lot and that I thought would give a good essence to this character.

Básicamente para empezar a construir a mi personaje para este dibujo me enfoque en buscar poses donde estuviera como sentada o reposada en una silla o muro, finalmente opte por dibujarla como si estuviera sentada en una mesa mientras disfruta la compañía de un cigarrillo; todo esto mientras su mirada perdida refleja perfectamente como se siente su alma. Los colores como les dije antes querían que fueran tonalidades mas cálidas o enfocadas hacia tonos marrones, es por ello que la piel la empecé a pintar teniendo como base esa idea; para el vestido use un tono marrón chocolatoso que me gusta mucho y que me pareció le daría una buena esencia a este personaje.

The painting of the skin and its volume is always extremely fascinating to me, whenever I can I use almost the same brushes, but I rarely get exactly the same result and I love that, because in my opinion each work must have and express a unique essence and different from the others. I worked the skin for a long time while I was softening little by little with a scattered brush and I got Monicca to look just as I imagined her in my mind, then for the eyes I used a lot of blue color and for the lips I used a more or less warm reddish tone; with these colors I think I got the sad personality I had in mind for this character.

El pintado de la piel y su voluminado siempre me resulta sumamente fascinante, siempre que puedo uso casi los mismos pinceles, pero rara vez consigo exactamente el mismo resultado y eso me encanta; pues a mi parecer cada obra debe tener y expresar una esencia única y diferente a las demás. Trabaje la piel durante un buen rato mientas iba suavizando poco a poco con un pincel disperso y conseguí que Monicca se viera tal cual la imaginaba en mi mente, después para los ojos si me anime a usar mucho color azul y para los labios si use un tono más o menos rojizo cálido; con estos colores me parece que conseguí la personalidad triste que tenia en mente para este personaje.

The painting of the clothes I did entirely with brown tones mixing a lot with warm tones, on the base of the dress I started with a small textured watercolor to establish the shape of the dress with certain folds that give the right shape to the fabric of the dress; then with a brush with more defined edges I was giving a little more detailed shape to the fabric with certain glitters and layer effects. At the end to finish with the dress I only used a brush with a low opacity texture to achieve a slightly antique appearance to the dress and at the same time to the character; then the hair I finished it with watercolor and scaling a little the tonalities towards lighter gray tones, but without giving an old appearance to Monicca.

El pintado de la ropa si lo hice enteramente con tonos marrones mezclando mucho con tonalidades cálidas, sobre la base del vestido empecé con un pequeño texturizado en acuarela para ir estableciendo la forma del vestido con ciertos pliegues que le dan la forma adecuada a la tela del vestido; luego con un pincel de bordes más definidos fui dándole una forma un poco más detallada a la tela con ciertos brillos y efectos de capa. Al final para terminar con el vestido solo use un pincel con textura a baja opacidad para lograr una apariencia ligeramente antigua al vestido y al mismo tiempo al personaje; luego el cabello lo termine con acuarela y escalando un poco las tonalidades hacia tonos grises más claros, pero sin llegar a darle una tampoco una apariencia anciana a Monicca.

In the last part of the process of my work what I did was to give color and shape to the cigarette, I worked a little on the tip to give the impression that it was lit and emanating a slight trail of smoke; I did this with a rough Poncil at 50% opacity and using the effect (Shine) of the Krita program also at low opacity. I created another slight trail of smoke emanating from Monicca's lips to give a better sense that she is smoking and I also added a lot of texture to the wall and especially to the table to make it look as realistic as possible; finally, some final glows served me to give a bit of lighting to the scene and at the same time complemented my illustration.

En la última parte del proceso de mi obra lo que hice fue darle color y forma al cigarrillo, trabajé un poco la punta para que diera la impresión de que estaba encendido y emanando un leve estela de humo; esto lo hice con un Poncil rugoso a 50% de opacidad y empleando el efecto (Shine) del programa Krita también a baja opacidad. Cree otra leve estela de hubo brotando de los labios de Monicca para darle un mejor sentido de que ella se encuentra fumando y además añadí bastante textura a la pared y sobre todo a la mesa para que viera lo mas realista posible; por último, unos brillos finales me sirvieron para darle un poco de iluminación al escenario y al mismo tiempo complementaron mi ilustración.
