Sidney, The Serenity of a Night on the Balcony.

Good morning my dear community of artists, happy start of the week and I hope you had a good weekend, today I come with full batteries recharged to share with you a new drawing for my blog; today's work is one in which I focus on creating a pretty girl named Sydney which transmits not only a look but also a cold personality. To achieve what I wanted in the beginning for this piece I had to use a lot of intense tones like blues, blacks and dark browns to build a good character, but also a good scenery to go with it:

Buenos días mi querida comunidad de artistas, feliz inicio de semana y espero hayan pasado un buen fin de semana, hoy vengo con las pilas full recargadas para compartirles un nuevo dibujo para mi blog; la obra de hoy es una en la que me enfoque en crear a una linda chica llamada Sídney la cual transmitiera no solo una mirada sino también una personalidad fría. Para lograr lo que deseaba en un comienzo para esta obra tuve que utilizar de muchos tonos intensos como azules, negros y marrones oscuros para construir un buen personaje, pero también un buen escenario que la acompañara:

PROCESS / PROCESO

The main idea for this character was to create Sydney in a sort of night and open setting, maybe like in a garden or something; but then trying out strokes and structures I decided it would be best to draw her in a sort of building balcony while enjoying a good cigarette. The sketch I can say that it took me a little time, but once the strokes were well defined it was much easier to start applying colors on it; in this case and as usual I started the painting by the area of Sydney's skin to better organize the different layers.

La idea principal para este personaje era la de crear a Sídney en una especie de escenario nocturno y abierto, tal vez como en un jardín o algo parecido; pero luego probando trazos y estructuras decidí que lo mejor sería dibujarla en una especie de balcón de edificio mientras disfrutaba de un buen cigarrillo. El boceto puedo decir que me tomo un poco de tiempo, pero una vez quedaron bien definidos los trazos ya fue mucho más fácil comenzar a aplicar colores sobre él; en este caso y como es costumbre comencé el pintado por la zona de la piel de Sídney para así organizar mejor las diferentes capas.

I worked on the skin with reddish tones to look for a different appearance from my last drawings and I must say that I loved the colors I used for the painting of Sydney's skin; I think I achieved a softness in the strokes that I had not achieved for some time and this was thanks to the watercolor brush. The next step in the painting process was the creation of details of expression of the face, in the lips for example I used a light red and little by little I worked on the volume to make them look more realistic; then face the eyes as I mentioned before I wanted to convey a strong and cold look and for this I decided to use some shades of light blue mixed a little with brown and black tones, and thanks to this I finished this section with a good level of detail.

La piel la trabaje con tonos rojizos para buscar una apariencia algo diferente a las de mis últimos dibujos y debo decir que me encantaron los colores que use para el pintado de la piel de Sídney; creo que logre una suavidad en los trazos que hacia algún tiempo no lograba y esto fue gracias al pincel acuarela. El siguiente paso en el proceso de pintado fue la creación de detalles de expresión del rostro, en los labios por ejemplo use un rojo claro y poco a poco trabaje en el volumen para hacerlos ver más realistas; luego cara los ojos como les mencione antes quería transmitir una mirada fuerte y fría y para esto decidí usar algunos tonos de azul celeste mezclados un poco con tonos marrones y negros, y gracias a esto culmine este apartado con buen nivel de detalle.

After finishing with all the skin the next thing I had to do was to build a good outfit for Sidney and for this I decided to choose a mustard yellow tone to build the painting of the dress in a unique way; first I painted a couple of strokes to get some basic texture and then later with special brushes I worked better on the silk texture to give more elegance to the dress. Once I finished with the dress the next step was the painting of the hair, here I only used 2 brushes because being a short hair the airbrush and watercolor brushes are perfect for deduced strokes and so I have a better control of detail.

Luego de terminar con toda la piel lo siguiente que me quedaba por hacer era construir un buen atuendo para Sidney y para esto decidí elegir un tono de amarillo mostaza para construir el pintado del vestido de forma única; primero plasmé un par de trazos para conseguir un poco de textura básica y ya luego más adelante con pinceles especiales fui trabajando mejor en la textura de seda para darle mayor elegancia al vestido. Una vez finalice con el vestido el siguiente paso fue el del pintado del cabello, aquí solo use 2 pinceles ya que al ser un cabello corto los pinceles aerógrafo y la acuarela son perfectos para trazos deducidos y así tengo un mejor control de detalle.

I painted the cigarette with the help of a small and rough brush that I like to use for this type of drawings since it mixes the tonalities by itself and gives a special texture very similar to the paper that wraps the cigarettes. For the creation of the night scenery I first gave some depth to the night with very dark horizontal strokes; then I created the moon and clouds using several layers in order to achieve a higher level of detail.

Realice el pintado del cigarrillo con la ayuda de un pincel pequeño y rugoso que me gusta emplear para este tipo de dibujos ya que mezcla por sí mismo las tonalidades y otorga una textura especial muy parecido al papel que envuelve los cigarrillos. Para la creación del escenario nocturno primero di un poco de profundidad a la noche con trazos horizontales muy oscuros; luego cree la luna y nubes empleando varias capas para así conseguir mayor nivel de detalle.
