Purple Haze

For medical reasons, I’m spending a few days at my sister and her husband’s apartment. I’ve had some health issues recently, and instead of staying at my own home where I’m completely alone, my sister suggested and offered to let me stay at her place temporarily until I recover.

The backyard of the building where I’m staying features large expanses of green space with a wide variety of plant species, among which this purple-leaved shrub stands out. After doing some research online, the results suggest that it is an Alternanthera dentata, more commonly known as “Little Ruby” or “Ruby-leaf Alternanthera.”

According to my research, these shrubs are very popular as ornamental plants because of their ability to cover large areas of ground, as well as their vibrant foliage in shades of purple, burgundy, or deep red.

Por motivos médicos, estoy pasando algunos días en el apartamento de mi hermana y su esposo. He tenido algunos problemas de salud recientemente, y en lugar de quedarme en mi propia casa donde me encuentro completamente solo, mi hermana me sugirió y ofreció su hogar de forma temporal hasta poder recuperarme.

El patio trasero del edificio donde me encuentro, cuenta con grandes extensiones de áreas verdes, con mucha diversidad de especies vegetales sembradas, donde destaca este arbusto de hojas púrpuras, que luego de investigar en internet, los resultados sugieren que se trataría de una Alternanthera dentata, mas comúnmente conocida como Rubí Pequeño o Alternanthera de hoja de rubí.

Estos arbustos, de acuerdo con la investigación, gozan de una gran popularidad como planta ornamental, por su capacidad de cubrir grandes extensiones de suelo, además de su vibrante follaje de color púrpura, borgoña o rojo intenso.

Como nos encontramos en la temporada de lluvias, el verdor de la vegetación es notorio como puede observarse en las fotos que comparto como mi participación en esta nueva semana del Phone Photography Contest.
