Minimalism is a concept that emerged in the mid 60's to describe a philosophy of life based on simplicity, where we use what is strictly necessary to live and dispense with the rest, which in our daily life could be translated as the reduction to the maximum of the use and consumption of material goods.
In the visual arts, which of course includes photography, the concept of minimalism is similar, that is, the least possible number of elements are used in the graphic composition, where only one of them stands out above the rest, while eliminating, as far as possible, all those elements that visually distract the viewer.
Yesterday morning, as I was heading to my car to leave, I noticed a solitary pigeon wandering around the parking lot of the building. I tried to get as close as possible to photograph it, however, every time I approached it, it would hurry away from me without spreading its wings to fly away.
I processed the photographs using the editing tools provided by Picsart and Snapseed applications in their free versions; for which I considerably increased the brightness while decreasing the saturation and shadow values to attenuate the coloration and texture of the pavement, giving prominence to the bird.
El minimalismo es un concepto que surge a mediados de los años 60 para describir una filosofía de vida basada en la sencillez y en la simplicidad, donde se usa lo estrictamente necesario para vivir y se prescinde del resto, lo cual en nuestra vida diaria podría ser traducido como la reducción al máximo del uso y consumo de bienes materiales.
En las artes visuales, en las cuales se incluya desde luego la fotografía, el concepto de minimalismo es similar, es decir, se emplea el menor número posible de elementos en la composición gráfica, donde solo uno de ellos destaque sobre el resto, mientras se elimina, en la medida de lo posible, todo aquellos elementos que distraigan visualmente al espectador.
En la mañana de ayer, mientras me dirigía a mi carro para salir, observé una paloma solitaria que deambulaba por el estacionamiento del edificio. Procuré acercarme lo mas posible para fotografiarla, sin embargo, cada vez que me aproximaba, ella apuraba el paso para alejarse de mí sin llegar a desplegar sus alas para huir volando.
Las fotografías las procesé haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que proporcionan las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed en sus versiones gratuitas; para lo cual incrementé considerablemente el brillo mientras disminuía los valores de saturación y sombra para lograr atenuar la coloración y textura del pavimento, dándole protagonismo al ave.
