GPS strange settings - Night Run

I just finished a 8.505km running that lasted about 0hh:40mm:24ss !

I skipped yesterday planned run, not even because of the cold (it was indeed very cold though), but just because I didn't feel like it. So today was almost a must if I want to keep the momentum going. But I felt very tired and unmotivated. Serious lack of sleep the past week (he says while writing this post at 3 in the morning...). Eventually I managed to get started on my run, and actually pretty fast on the first couple of miles. But the feeling was quickly confirmed: I started to feel exhausted and out of breath much sooner than I am used to. Of course I didn't give up, managed to slow down a bit which is not exactly natural for me, and kept running to finally reach over 5 miles. So the pace was also a bit slower, but at around 7:40 min/mile, it's actually not that bad, especially considering the conditions, very changing once again. Many of the streets have been cleaned up (like the pathway along the edge of the forest on the cover picture), but a few still are covered with hard packed icy snow like on the second picture below. Not to mention the steady good quality fluffy snow that was falling. It really caught me off-guard and was actually sufficient to leave a new thin coating of snow everywhere.

Like I mentioned already, I've been experiencing some issues with my GPS the past few weeks, even months. After some research, I may have found the most counter-intuitive solution: some users suggest turning off the watch location high-accuracy option could fix my accuracy issues! Seriously? Modern technology and its mysteries sometimes... So, anyways, I tried today, and what do you know?... The trajectory was recorded perfectly! I ran well-known routes, so I kept a close eye on the distance recorded, and as far as I can tell, it worked well the whole way. Even the magic Strava algorithm correcting the distance with the raw GPS data did not change the final distance too much, less than 2%, which is absolutely fine by me. The somewhat high variations in the recorded pace are a little surprising to me, but since the distance and time are correct, that must be correct too. Of course, I can't be sure this stupid setting was indeed what fixed the issue, I need to go for a few more test runs. But that is encouraging.

Talking about next run, I need 26km to reach 100km in January. With only 4 days left, and the current weather forecast, that's definitely challenging, but doable. I'll try anyways, but if I fail, that's really no big deal either.
Till then, keep Exhausting!
