"Chirk...." the sound of a matchstick ignited. Slowly, the music began its tune, "I saw the light.... fade from the sky". Her favourite alarm to wake up to every morning.

Billy Boyd's "The Last Goodbye". Not too loud, not too shocking, just the right level of melody and tune to gradually ease her through the waking up process. It helped too that it was the closing song to her favourite movie series. Usually, she would snooze for a while, a long while, sometimes up to an hour before she get up but today was a special day.

She opened her eyes slowly as soon as her phone played the "Chirk" and glanced at her windows to check the sun. The sun was shining through fiercely, even through her light blue curtains and she quickly jumped out of bed. Yes! She was going to get her tan!

She ran to her bathroom, her swimsuit hanging readily for her. She brushed her teeth, took a quick shower and slipped into her swimsuit, with a little bit of struggle. Some parts of her suit has hardened and she could hear soft cracks as she put it on. Guess, it was time for a new one.

It has been months since she swam because the pool was closed for safety reasons and a few days ago, it was opened for use again. She waited for things to settle down and for the pool to be cleaned by maintenance first. And today was the day, she was going to get her first tan after eight months! She was beginning to look like steamed chicken, pale and too fair.

Just to be sure, she slided open her curtains and there it was, a wonderful view of the sun spreading its shine of joy and warmth on the pool. She grabbed her goggles and cap, wore her shorts and literally skipped to the door. But softly as she didn't want to wake the rest at home.

When she walked towards the pool, she could feel the sun giving happy kisses to her skin. And the pool, the beautiful pool with see-through crystal clear sparkling water that looked so blue because of the tiles underneath. Everyone at home will be having a late breakfast today. She was going to take her time, her me-time, to enjoy her long awaited swimming and tanning session while thinking about what to make for breakfast. Perhaps some sunny side up eggs with toasts.
