¿Cuándo me debo ir?

image.png

This is a really deep topic Hive friends, also interesting and important. I have been reading some of the entries that have been submitted and no doubt everyone has a lot to say and I agree with some of them that this initiative serves as therapy. Many have openly told their experiences, which allow us to identify or not with similar situations and have also shared the lessons they learned and their opinions regarding those signs that tell us that it is time to leave.

Well, now it's my turn to sit in the dock. But I'll confess something right off the bat, rather than experience in paying attention to the signs that tell me it's time to go, I think I have a Master in staying 😎.

Toxic relationships

image.png

Lately, the term "toxic relationships " has become very popular, and it is not only attributed to romantic relationships but also to family, work or friendship relationships. In this era, the environment surrounding modern society and the promotion of selfish lifestyles where what is sought is personal satisfaction, are some of the factors that have resulted in complicated relationships where not being satisfied certain expectations, feel unhappy, cause harm to the partner or end in breakups.

argument-238529_640.jpg
Fuente: Ryan McGuire en pixabay

The truth is that it is very common to see people with asocial behaviors that complicate natural relationships with other people, even, I have noticed that many people tend to suffer from Pervasive Developmental Disorders that affect certain areas of social behavior and that undoubtedly contribute to hinder the establishment of healthy relationships in many areas.

In addition, family disintegration and the normalization of permissive, harmful and selfish lifestyles have also brought as a consequence added values that make life as a couple more complicated.

When should I leave?

image.png

Generally, not being happy in a relationship is identified as the main sign to leave. But, when is a person not happy or why is he/she not happy? Well, we have been accustomed to believe that love stories always have a happy ending and are rosy, but in every relationship there are ups and downs. Even, love relationships have been compared to a lottery. That's why there are "such lucky people " who get the perfect partner and are happy forever 🙄.

suitcase-1412996_640.jpg
Fuente: Jose Antonio Alba en pixabay

Although over there I read that some people think that all relationships have an expiration date 📅, so no matter how good they are, sooner or later they will no longer work for us and then it will be time to leave, but what do you think?

Similarly, many think that their happiness depends solely and exclusively on the satisfaction of all their desires, needs and or whims. So, when this does not happen, they are unhappy and then it is a sign that they have to leave.

What to expect from a relationship?

image.png

couple-1790138_640.jpg
Fuente: Alice Bitencourt en pixabay

A loving relationship is a two-person relationship (excuse me if you think this is old-fashioned or outdated😜), therefore it involves satisfying the needs of both and when there are children, well this extends to all its members, not just one of the elements of the equation. That is why generally when one of the members only struggles for the satisfaction of his needs and desires, he will be unhappy and will want to leave.

But the unhappiness of one partner can have many causes. Millions of people around the world are abused by their partners physically, mentally or emotionally, but separations and divorces are very common in many relationships that do not include these types of situations.

Signs to know when to leave

image.png

Neglect and lack of attention

image.png

If a person feels neglected by their partner because they do not receive much attention, their partner is not affectionate but rather careless and even inconsiderate is that love is over and then it is an excellent sign to leave the relationship. That is what many people think, but romantic relationships are like the fire of a bonfire that once it is lit if it is not stoked, sooner or later it will go out and even, there are many cases in which you thought you had put out a bonfire and the hot blights are capable of igniting a fire and causing destruction. That is why I believe they say that where there was fire, ashes remain.

There are many reasons for love to seem to be fading and many times the daily routine and having to attend to many other activities makes you take your attention away from your partner and discomfort begins to appear. But that does not mean that there is no love. I do not agree that love is a lottery, because usually one chooses one's partner. So many times we are in a hurry to choose and we don't do it right. Of course, there are many cases where a person pretends to be something he or she is not.

heartsickness-428103_640.jpg
Fuente: Tú Anh en pixabay

But, for some reason we chose that partner, but if we believe that this relationship will be as rosy as at the beginning and will remain so forever and ever, we are very wrong and we are going to fail. Successful relationships are those that involve commitment from both parties, even if they are not soul mates, as many expect to find.

At some point I have thought like many, that love is over, but I have realized that it is not so, because I have found that deep and romantic feelings can be rekindled despite the years, even if you think it is not. Obviously not all relationships are the same.

Mistrust

image.png

Trust is a vital ingredient to establish healthy and lasting relationships. For this reason, when you do not trust your partner, either because he or she has been unfaithful or because he or she never tells the truth, living together hangs in the balance.

infidelity-379565_640.jpg
Fuente: Tumisu en pixabay

Did you know that according to the Bible, adultery is the only biblical basis for divorce? That means that, although we are advised in the scriptures that we should forgive (up to 77 times 😊) adultery is the only sin that we are not asked to forgive and it is because it is very painful and causes a lot of damage, which can even be irreparable.

So, if the partner has been unfaithful is that the unmistakable sign to leave the relationship?

Abuse

image.png

Unfortunately, there are many people who are victims of gender violence and this not only involves physical abuse, but also psychological and emotional abuse. So much so, that many women (the vast majority) have died at the hands of their partner, so physical abuse that endangers the life of the person or any of their children is a red alert that indicates that you must escape at all costs.

woman-6133583_640.jpg
Fuente: Diana Cibotari en pixabay

When all is not lost

image.png

From my own experience I know that when both partners are determined to fight for their relationship, and to put each other's well-being before their own, which involves looking for strategies to remedy what has gone wrong, then it is worth going the extra mile.

I was very surprised recently to come across several disorders that make relationships very, very difficult. For example, there is Cassandra Affective Deprivation Disorder (CADD) which I did a post on which you can read here.

It is amazing how many people (mostly men) reach adulthood unaware that they have an Autism Spectrum Disorder or other disorder that prevents them from showing empathy to their peer and therefore to their spouse. As a consequence, many of these people start a relationship but this ends in a breakup because their partner does not feel loved, but mistreated and even suffers from self-esteem problems.

But the research sheds light at the end of the tunnel, because once these people are diagnosed and accept the diagnosis, the couple can understand the situation and find the tools to ensure that the needs of both are met. I found this information incredible and if there is love, they will surely get their relationship back on track.

i-beg-your-pardon-3164883_640.jpg
Fuente: Alexa en pixabay

In fact, I met an older man here at Hive who told me that in his adulthood he was diagnosed with autism and this was a relief for his partner because it helped them find justification for many behaviors that hurt their relationship. Also, he had never heard of Cassandra's Disorder. He was even very excited and told me that his wife would be very happy because it would continue to give them answers to many questions. He was so grateful for this information that he gave me a gift of 900 or 1000 Ecency points, I can't remember exactly.

Another surprising case I came across was Peter Pan Syndrome which is not a psychological disorder but a behavioral one. And it is that immature behavior that can manifest certain people, especially men, who are dependent and refuse to mature. Therefore they tend to seek their own satisfaction, to evade responsibilities and even the consequences of their actions. This type of behavior also makes relationships difficult.

However, when the sufferer comes to recognize it and seeks help, it is possible to work to improve the aspects that hurt the relationship.

So, there are cases of apparent lovelessness that can find an answer in a good diagnosis and if the person accepts it and love prevails, then there is hope for that relationship and no one necessarily has to leave.

Although it is true that we are all different and not all of us are happy or unhappy with the same things, there is no rule. There are those who would not be willing to forgive an infidelity, but there are those who have given a new opportunity and have managed to build a stronger and lasting relationship, so everyone must decide.

But more than looking for our own happiness we have to think about the big picture, many people separate or divorce and then reap worse consequences for themselves or their children. But the world promotes selfishness and we are encouraged to seek mainly our own happiness and sometimes others are dragged into an unhappy life. So everyone must not only make their own decisions but also carry their own burdens of responsibility.

Learning to communicate effectively is vital to expose each other's shortcomings or expectations, to fight not for what is mine but for what is ours, and to be willing to look out for each other's welfare.

But what is certain in any case is that we must try to promote a healthy self-esteem, because if we have a low self-esteem, we can endure abusive situations or even put our life or that of our children at risk. But also a person with a very high self-esteem, may think that the only thing that interests him is his own welfare and this will prevent him from finding happiness and is likely to prevent the happiness of his partner.

hahaha 😁 If I used a translator, the truth is that sometimes they play tricks on us and more when we make a mistake writing in Spanish and of course the English translation ends up not making sense, a thousand apologies.

But your comment was perfect, so you wrote very well and the translator behaved up to the task. Yes, it is good when we are aware that we must improve and we put effort into it, although the ideal would be to do everything right the first time, but that is impossible. however, there are people who do not realize that they must change or if they do they do not care. But the important thing is that each one of us is willing to do what we have to do because we can have control over that, not over what the others do.

I was very happy about your comment and thank you very much for telling me about the translation 😅.

Have a nice day! Here in Venezuela it's 8:43 am 😉🌷.

Some people stay in the toxic relationship out of habit. You fool yourself that it's out of love, but it's really just the habit of being with that person. You program your brain that you can't do without him/her. In doing so, you lose the real meaning of life and give control of your being and soul to someone else.

You're right. You know that I have learned something, that the same thing is not good for everyone. There are people like you say who get used to that kind of thing and others who accept certain things that others don't, because they make a conscious decision. The Lord has everything in the vineyard, that's why everyone must make their own decisions, sometimes we pressure someone to do or stop doing something, but it turns out that for that person that was fine and their dynamic somehow worked.

Of course, this is not always the case, so the world of relationships is a great ocean with still uncharted parts 🙄😅.

Thank you @darthsauron for reading my publication and for leaving me your comment and thanks to Dreemport for bringing you to me 😁😉
