Hello friends of Hive and especially this amazing community of @motherhood. For a long time I have wanted to be part of this great team and share my experiences as a mother with all of you and also get to know yours. But trying to make my way through Hive I have been diluted among other communities and today is that I have arrived here.

The most important thing I have done in my life has been to be the mother of a precious 14 year old teenager. My journey through motherhood has not been easy, even though it comes naturally to women, according to popular culture hahaha. Many times I have felt, like many of you perhaps, that I have not done so well. But when I see the good qualities of my son, I realize that I have not done so bad and that's when I pat myself on my back.

But today I would like to start in this community with a brief analysis of what I believe, in part, is the role of parents in the lives of their children. But a text I read a few months ago seems to me that summarizes perfectly through a written image, what should be that important figure in the life of our children. That is why I would like to share a kind of short story by unknown author. I tried to find on the internet who is the author of such a work and I did not find it, even other sources also use this writing and cite it as anonymous.

In the last wagonimage.png

Every year, in the summer, mom and dad accompanied their son on the train to grandma's house. Then, they returned home on the same train the next day.

The boy, when he grew up, told his parents:

– I'm old, what do you say if I try to go this year? only where grandma?

After a short discussion, the parents agreed. There they were standing on the station platform, waving, giving the latest recommendations from the window, while he kept repeating:

- Yes, I know, I know, they've already said it a hundred times...!< br>
The train was about to leave and the father said: – Son, if you suddenly feel bad or scared, this is for you! – and put something in his son's pocket.

The boy was alone, sitting in the car, without parents, for the first time, looking curiously from the window. All around, strangers pushed, made noise, entered the compartment, left, the driver made comments about the fact that he was alone, someone even looked at him with regret, and suddenly the boy felt very uncomfortable and sad, more and more.<br
He lowered his head, snuggled into a corner of the seat and the tears began to flow.

At that moment he remembered that his father had put something in his pocket. With trembling hand he groped around and found a piece of paper, it had this written on it:

- Son, I'm in the last wagon....

Life lesson

image.png

As parents, we all have a great responsibility to care for, educate and train our children for adult life. It is at that time, when they will spread their wings to fly at their own pace in their own way. However, there are many ways to reach that goal, some better than others. There are many theories, many opinions and much advice. Sometimes we replicate the experiences of our own childhood, sometimes perhaps trying to eliminate what we consider was not right.

So while the ultimate goal is usually achieved (our child flying solo), the price does not turn out to be the same. This story from In the Last Car shows how these parents, in principle, analyze their son's request to travel alone to his grandmother's house. This is evidence of teamwork. Secondly, the son, after traveling accompanied for a long time, learns the necessary procedure to get to his grandmother's house, and he is physically more mature, so he feels that he has a certain amount of independence.

The parents must think about whether the son is really mature enough to make this trip, but they agree to his request after evaluating all the circumstances and give him a vote of confidence. But the father, in spite of accepting and the son feeling very confident, tells him that if at any time he does not feel well, he should look for what he has put in his pocket. So his father has given him a lifeline in case of emergencies.

As he begins his journey the confidence in this young man gradually fades, which makes him realize that not everything is as easy as it seemed. This makes him worry, feel sad and scared. Which is normal and we all go through that as we grow up. However, he has the lifeline that his father has given him.
So when he feels this way he goes to his pocket and finds a message from his father telling him that he was in the last wagon.

In this way his parents were training him for his flight, but evidently he is not ready yet, he is giving his first steps in the process of maturity and independence, but he was not alone, he had not been abandoned. This is a great sign of love, he was not cut off from his aspirations and his desire to grow, but he was given the opportunity to live his own experience, but always under the wings of his parents.

At some point all our children will take flight, it is better on time than sooner or later. But while that happens we must teach them with love the necessary skills to take on the challenges that life puts in front of us. Everything will never be perfect nor will we be able to prepare them for everything, there is a big difference in taking steps forward feeling confident, than taking steps forward feeling abandoned.

As I told you, my son is already 14 years old, he is an only child, so you can imagine that he might be a little spoiled. His father wants to teach him to drive but he hasn't wanted to. I have been initiating him in the kitchen, as well as in certain household and social skills. Especially to be polite, grateful, to use the rules of politeness, of the good speaker and the good listener. To take care of his cleanliness, he already does his own laundry, although I only asked him once to go ahead and put the clothes in the washing machine and since then he has taken the initiative. It gives me a little tickle when I see him come downstairs with his basket of clothes without me telling him and he washes them and his dad feels proud.

Soon he will have to go to the supermarket nearby, I have told him and it makes him nervous. Some boys are more risky than others, I understand his fear, because I go through that too, but I tell him not to worry, because I will be there, on the last wagon. I hope to be back this way soon 😜.

Hola @marbrym
Me encantó tu post!

Hello friend, I hope you are very well. If there is no way to perfectly fulfill such a goal but if we accompany and guide you with love, I think that is enough. Thanks for your comment 🌺
