En el evangelio de san Marcos (1,40-45) leemos un episodio interesante:
En aquel tiempo, se acercó a Jesús un leproso, suplicándole de rodillas: «Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.» dice el evangelista que Jesucristo sintió lástima, extendió su mano y lo curó. La misericordia es uno de los valores que mas resalta en la vida de Jesús de Nazaret; por esa razón, los cristianos estamos llamados a imitar los gestos de compasión que nuestro Señor nos enseñó con su ejemplo. Nuestro prójimo necesita de nosotros así como nosotros necesitamos de él, la reciprocidad es importante en las relaciones humanas aunque, en honor a la verdad, debemos dar sin esperar nada a cambio, el cristiano verdadero vino a servir no ha ser servido.
La misericordia es la disposición a compadecerse de los sufrimientos y miserias ajenas. Se manifiesta en amabilidad, asistencia al necesitado, especialmente en el perdón y la reconciliación. Es más que un sentimiento de simpatía, es una práctica. En el cristianismo es uno de los principales atributos divinos. La misericordia es también un sentimiento de pena o compasión por los que sufren, que impulsa a ayudarles o aliviarles; en determinadas ocasiones, es la virtud que impulsa a ser benévolo en el juicio o castigo.

In the Gospel of Saint Mark (1,40-45) we read an interesting episode:
At that time, a leper approached Jesus, begging him on his knees: "If you want, you can cleanse me." says the evangelist that Jesus Christ felt sorry, reached out his hand and healed him. Mercy is one of the values that most stands out in the life of Jesus of Nazareth; For this reason, we Christians are called to imitate the gestures of compassion that our Lord taught us by his example. Sintiendo lástima, extendió la mano y lo tocó, diciendo: «Quiero: queda limpio.» La lepra se le quitó inmediatamente, y quedó limpio.
Él lo despidió, encargándole severamente: «No se lo digas a nadie; pero, para que conste, ve a presentarte al sacerdote y ofrece por tu purificación lo que mandó Moisés.»
Pero, cuando se fue, empezó a divulgar el hecho con grandes ponderaciones, de modo que Jesús ya no podía entrar abiertamente en ningún pueblo; se quedaba fuera, en descampado; y aun así acudían a él de todas partes.

Feeling pity, he reached out and touched it, saying: "I want: it is clean." The leprosy was removed immediately, and he was clean.
He fired him, ordering him severely: “Don't tell anyone; But, for the record, go and present yourself to the priest and offer for your purification what Moses commanded. "
But, when he left, he began to divulge the fact with great considerations, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter any town; he stayed outside, in the open; and yet they came to him from everywhere.
