Excarcelado maestro carupanero//Carupana teacher released from prison

Hola mis amigos de hive, quiero compartir con ustedes un poco de la historia de un maestro dirigente carupanero que hace 5 años junto a muchos docentes del sindicato luchaba por las reivindicaciones salariales de los docentes, compartimos meses de lucha para que existiese un cambio, pero lamentablemente no se logró nada, porque a pesar de que la mayoría de los docentes nos sumamos en está lucha los directores y algunos docentes quedaron en las escuelas y los directivos buscaron la estrategia de colocar a personas de la chamba juvenil para cubrir el vacío de los docentes y hacer ver que no pasaba nada y que los niños seguían viendo clases, y que en el país no estaba ocurriendo nada, que solo eran poquitos guarimberos que estábamos fuera de las aulas.

La situación se volvió agotadora y éramos invisibles para el gobierno, hasta que la mayoría nos cansamos y el ver que no logramos nada, no tuvimos más remedio que regresar a las aulas.

En el 2022 fue cuando el gobierno nacional otorgó el último aumento salarial de 130 BS y aún en el 2026 seguimos con el mismo salario violando el Artículo 91 de la Constitución de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela donde se establece que el Estado garantizará a los trabajadores del sector público y privado un salario mínimo vital, el cual será ajustado cada año, tomando como una de las referencias el costo de la canasta básica.

Ellos para no dar aumento de sueldo empiezan a implementa un bono compensatorio por la plataforma patria según ellos para compensar el salario, actualmente es de 120$ y este bono no influye en vacaciones ni aguinaldo el 25 debemos recibir un pago de 40$ que nunca es el monto real siempre son 35 o 37$ imagínese todas las injusticias que cómo trabajadores hemos tenido que vivir en Venezuela y con una canasta básica que supera los 500$.

El profesor de educación física Robert Franco dirigente sindical secretario general del Colegio de Profesores de Venezuela estado Sucre, fue acusado de planear asesinar al fiscal general, Tarek William Saab, y le imputaron los delitos de terrorismo, traición a la patria y homicidio intencional agravado en grado de tentativa. Y es 26 de diciembre del 2020, cuando compartía con amistades en el Parque Carupana cuando fue detenido y acusado por cargos sin sentido, pues el simplemente defendía los derechos laborales de los educadores,y juntos protestamos por más de dos meses para exigir sueldos dignos. Este hecho ocurrió en plena pandemia de Covid-19.
Fue injustamente detenido y castigado por alzar la voz y exigir condiciones dignas para quienes forman a las futuras generaciones. Robert nunca debió estar preso. Defender la educación y a sus trabajadores no es un delito. Lo condenaron a 30 años de prisión, pero gracias a lo ocurrido este 3 de enero en Venezuela. El domingo 8 de febrero fue excarcelado, gracias a Dios 🙏 se ha hecho justicia pero aún no tiene libertad plena. Pedimos a Dios porque se cumplan nuestros derechos laborales y como profesionales podamos gozar de todos los beneficios que por ley y años de esfuerzos y estudios nos corresponden.

Hello my Hive friends, I want to share with you a bit of the story of a teacher leader from Carúpano who, five years ago, along with many other teachers from the union, fought for teachers' salary increases. We spent months fighting for change, but unfortunately, nothing was achieved. Even though most teachers joined the struggle, the principals and some teachers stayed in the schools. The administrators used the strategy of placing people from the Youth Employment Program to fill the teachers' void and make it seem like nothing was wrong, that the children were still attending classes, and that nothing was happening in the country—that it was just a few protesters outside the classrooms.

The situation became exhausting, and we were invisible to the government. Eventually, most of us grew tired of it, and seeing that we hadn't achieved anything, we had no choice but to return to the classrooms.

In 2022, the national government granted the last salary increase of 130 BS, and even in 2026, we are still receiving the same salary, violating Article 91 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which establishes that the State will guarantee public and private sector workers a living minimum wage, which will be adjusted annually, taking the cost of the basic food basket as one of the reference points.

To avoid giving a salary increase, they started implementing a compensatory bonus through the Patria platform, supposedly to compensate for the salary. Currently, it is $120, and this bonus does not affect vacation pay or Christmas bonus. On the 25th, we are supposed to receive a payment of $40, which is never the actual amount; it's always $35 or $37. Imagine all the injustices we as workers have had to endure in Venezuela, with a basic food basket that exceeds $500.

Robert Franco, a physical education teacher and union leader, general secretary of the Venezuelan Teachers' Association in Sucre state, was accused of plotting to assassinate Attorney General Tarek William Saab. He was charged with terrorism, treason, and attempted aggravated homicide. On December 26, 2020, while spending time with friends in Carupana Park, he was arrested and charged with baseless offenses. He was simply defending the labor rights of educators, and together we protested for over two months demanding decent wages. This occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was unjustly detained and punished for speaking out and demanding dignified working conditions for those who educate future generations. Robert should never have been imprisoned. Defending education and its workers is not a crime. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison, but thanks to what happened on January 3rd in Venezuela, he was released on Sunday, February 8th. Thank God 🙏 justice has been served, but he is not yet fully free. We pray to God that our labor rights will be respected and that, as professionals, we may enjoy all the benefits that are rightfully ours by law and after years of effort and study.
