Hace unos días les compartí una primera parte de mi actual proyecto relacionado con mi Bucket List; hoy, luego de unos días dedicando unos minutos cada noche para terminar, les quiero mostrar como ha quedado mi mecedora con sus cojines. Ya les comenté, que tiene conmigo unos cuantos años (21) y ya necesitaba un nuevo traje de presentación jajaja.
Seguí buscando entre mis telas guardadas y encontré un trozo que hace mucho compré para hacerme una blusa, hoy formará parte del cojín para la parte de la espalda de la mecedora que me faltaba.
Happy weekend friends of @Needleworkmonday. A few days ago I shared with you the first part of my current project related to my Bucket List; today, after a few days dedicating a few minutes every night to finish it, I want to show you how my rocking chair with its cushions has turned out. I already told you that it has been with me for a few years (21) and it already needed a new presentation suit hahaha.
I kept looking through my saved fabrics and I found a piece that I bought a long time ago to make a blouse, today it will be part of the cushion for the back of the rocking chair that I was missing.
Uní varias hojas de máquina y saqué un molde con el tamaño que tendría que tener el cojín. Luego lo llevé a la tela y corté dos piezas iguales en este caso color naranja cálido, que combinaba perfecto con los colores que conforman el cojín de sentarnos. También corté una tira en color beige, esta tira la usaré para colocarla por los bordes, el ancho dependerá del grosor de la esponja que usaremos.
I pieced together several machine sheets and made a mold of the size the cushion would need to be. Then I took it to the fabric and cut two identical pieces in this case in a warm orange color, which matched perfectly with the colors that make up the sitting cushion. I also cut a strip in beige color, this strip I will use to place it around the edges, the width will depend on the thickness of the sponge we will use.
Pasé a la máquina y cosí uno de los bordes de la tira beige por todo el borde de una de las piezas naranja, dejando sin coser por donde introduciremos la esponja, luego cosí el otro borde de la tira beige a la otra pieza naranja y formé así el forro del cojín.
I went to the machine and sewed one of the edges of the beige strip all around the edge of one of the orange pieces, leaving unsewn where we will introduce the sponge, then I sewed the other edge of the beige strip to the other orange piece and thus formed the lining of the cushion.
Introduje la esponja que tenía dispuesto para este proyecto y con costura a mano cerré el extremo abierto del forro.
I inserted the sponge I had prepared for this project and hand stitched the open end of the lining closed.
Probé el cojín en la mecedora y se me ocurrió que sería buena idea colocar unas tiras en la parte trasera para amarrar el cojín a la mecedora, de modo que no se venga hacia adelante cuando nos levantamos. Así que corté dos tiras, las cosí en la máquina para luego coserlas a mano al cojín.
I tried the cushion on the rocking chair and it occurred to me that it would be a good idea to put some straps on the back to tie the cushion to the rocking chair, so that it doesn't fall forward when we get up. So I cut two strips, sewed them on the machine and then hand stitched them to the cushion.
También me pareció que lucirían bien algunos detalles a juego con los colores usados en el cojín de sentarse, así que corté unos círculos en cartón, también unos cuadrados en tela de los colores que quería y un poco de guata, así formé una especie de botones grandes que coloqué en diversas partes del cojín con costura a mano.
I also thought it would look nice to have some details to match the colors used in the sitting cushion, so I cut some circles in cardboard, also some squares in fabric in the colors I wanted and some wadding, so I formed a kind of big buttons that I placed in different parts of the cushion with hand stitching.
Montamos los dos cojines a la mecedora y este es el resultado, que en particular me ha gustado mucho. Mi mecedora que aunque tiene sus añitos ahora está bien presentable y podré usarla mucho tiempo más, para descansar en mis tardes de café.
We mounted the two cushions to the rocking chair and this is the result, which I particularly liked a lot. My rocking chair that although it has its years is now well presentable and I will be able to use it for a long time more, to rest in my coffee afternoons.
Un proyecto un poco largo, pero que ha valido la pena por el resultado obtenido y sobre todo por lograr algo que tenía mucho tiempo en mente. Espero les haya gustado mi Bucket list de hoy y les sea útil.
