First I started to make my sketch with the help of guide lines to better position the character, as my idea was to make a simple character I tried to make my lines as clear and clean as possible with a simple pose. Then I lowered the opacity of my sketch and I began to make the lineart, then I applied a thicker line in the outline of the character to make it stand out a little more.

Primero comencé a realizar mi boceto con ayuda de líneas guía para posicionar mejor al personaje, como mi idea era realizar un personaje sencillo trate de que mis líneas fueran lo mas claras y limpias posibles con una pose simple. Luego baje la opacidad de mi boceto y comencé a realizar el lineart, luego aplique una línea mas gruesa en el contorno del personaje para que destacara un poco mas.

Once I was happy with the lineart I went on to place the colours that the character would have, for this I created a palette of tones similar to my reference and started to apply them in different layers. Then I applied several gradients on the colours to place my lights and shadows.

Una vez estaba contento con el lineart pase a colocar los colores que tendría el personaje, para ello arme una paleta de tonos similar al de mi referencia y comencé a aplicarlos en capas diferentes. Luego aplique varios degradados en los colores para ubicar mis luces y sombras.

Then in a new layer I started to work on the shadows, these I made with a hard brush and in multiply mode because I wanted my shadows to be flat which is very good with this kind of characters. After finishing with the shadows using the same brush I was placing some small lines as light and with the help of an airbrush I passed through these lines to achieve a better integration with the colours of the character.

Once I finished with the character I went to work on the background, first I added a drop shadow and changed the tone of my background to a light yellow colour.

Después en una nueva capa comencé a trabajar en las sombras, estas las realice con un pincel duro y en modo multiplicar ya que quería que mis sombras fueran del tipo plano la cual queda muy bien con este tipo de personajes. Luego de terminar con las sombras utilizando el mismo pincel fui colocando unas pequeñas líneas como luz y con ayuda de un aerógrafo lo pase por estas líneas para lograr una mejor integración con los colores del personaje.

Una vez termine con el personaje pase a trabajar en el fondo, primero agregue una sombra paralela y cambie el tono de mi fondo por un color amarillo claro.
