Getting ready for the summer heat // Preparándome para el calor del verano.

Hello, Hive friends, and especially the @homesolutions community! As always, I hope you and your family and friends are doing well. It’s been a little while since I’ve stopped by here, but today I’m here to show you how I maintain my fan. As you all know, summer is just around the corner, and honestly, the heat is already unbearable, so I’m doing everything I can to make sure they’re ready and working properly by then.

Normally, I’d take them to the mechanic, but after a short while I’d have to take them back, because they’d get stuck again right away. I think it was because they weren’t using the right oil to lubricate them—they actually looked pretty greasy to me. Since I’m a very observant person, the first two times I went to the mechanic, I learned how the job was done.

A few days later, on one of those crazy days when I had the money, I bought the original oil used for maintenance, and SAS, ha ha ha. One fine day, I decided to take a chance and put what I’d learned into practice, ha ha ha. Well, I’ll tell you that every time my fans get jammed, I save over 1,000 pesos, because now I do that job myself.

The first thing I do is remove the covers, the blades, and the pin that holds the blade in place. Next, I take off the switch that lets you choose between stationary and rotating modes, the motor cover (both front and back), and loosen the screw that secures the base head so I can remove it and work more comfortably. Then, I take the motor out of the turntable and get to work, heh, heh, heh. I always keep a close eye on where each screw goes so that later I don’t end up missing any or having any left over, heh, heh, heh.

Once I have the motor in my hand and it’s easy to work with, I simply start taking it apart: I remove the screws that hold the motor together and take out the field and the shaft. And that’s where the real work begins. Using a damp cloth with kerosene or, if you don’t have any, a dry one—like I did because kerosene isn’t available here anymore—we clean everything thoroughly: the shaft and the bushings, making sure they’re completely clean with no dirt, because that’s what causes them to seize up.

After everything is clean and smooth—if you want, you can use some very fine sandpaper—we proceed to apply oil and grease so everything is well-lubricated and the shaft runs smoothly through the bushings. We apply oil to both so they’re well-greased, but not too much so it doesn’t drip onto the field. Once we’ve done this, we reverse the process from back to front and start putting everything back together. Be careful with the field—it has to be in the same position it was in.

Then, little by little, we put each part and each screw in its place until we finish assembling everything. We had to make sure the motor screws were properly positioned and securely tightened so that the motor would be centered and wouldn’t jam or get stuck due to friction. After assembly, I take a small stick and thoroughly clean the plastic parts to remove any dirt that might have gotten on them during the process.

My friends, this is how I keep my fans running and ready for the hot summer. Honestly, it saves me a little money, and I’ll tell you—there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the results of the work we’ve done. Hola amigos de Hive y en especial a la comunidad de @homesolutions como siempre espero que se encuentren bien al igual que sus familiares y amigos hace algún tiempito no pasaba por acá, pero hoy vengo para mostrarles como le doy mantenimiento a mi ventilador. Cómo todos saben se acerca la temporada de verano y la verdad ya los calores son irresistibles, así que trato por todos los medios que estén listos y funcionando bien para estas fechas.

Normalmente, yo los llevaba al mecánico, pero al poquito tiempo tenía que volver con ellos para atrás, pues se volvían a trancar enseguida, creo que era que no usaban el aceite adecuado para engrasar porque la verdad los veía muy gordito. Cómo soy una persona muy observadora, pues en las primeras 2 veces que fui al mecánico aprendí como se hacía el trabajo.

Días más tarde, me compré un día de esos locos y que tenía el dinero, pues el aceite original que se utiliza para dar mantenimiento, y SAS ja, ja, ja. Un buen día decidí arriesgarme y practicar lo aprendido ja, ja, ja. Bueno les cuento que cada vez que tengo los ventiladores trancados, me ahorro más de 1000 pesos, porque ese trabajo ahora lo hago yo misma.

Lo primero que hago es quitarle las caretas, las paletas y el pasador que aguanta la paleta, seguidamente le quitó el botón de ponerlo fijo o a girar, la cubierta del motor, por detrás y por delante, y le aflojo el tornillo que aguanta la cabeza de la base para poder sacar y trabajar más cómoda. Seguidamente, saco el motor del giratorio y trabajar ji, ji, ji. Ojo siempre fijándome donde va cada tornillo para que después no me falte y me sobre ninguno ji, ji, ji.

Después de tener el motor en la mano ya fácil para trabajar, pues sencillamente lo comiendo a desarmar, le saco los tornillos que cierran el motor y le saco el campo y el eje. Y ahí es donde está el kit de la cosa, con un pañito húmedo en luz brillante o keroseno si hay, si no seco, como lo hice yo porque aquí la luz brillante ya no se ve, limpiamos bien todo, el eje, los bujes que quede bien limpio sin nada de suciedad, pues está linda es la que los tranca.

Después que todo quedó bien limpio y liso, si quieres te puedes ayudar de una lijita bien fina, pues procedemos a echar el aceite y a engrasar para que todo quede bien lubricado y corra bien el eje por los bujes, le echamos aceite a ambos para que quede bien engrasado, Pero sin excesos para que no caiga en el campo, y ya después que hacemos esto, pues revertimos el proceso de atrás para adelante y comenzamos a armar todo de nuevo. Ojo con el campo, tiene que quedar en la misma posición que estaba.

Después ya poquito a poco vamos colocando cada pieza y cada tornillo donde va, hasta que terminamos de armar todo, la teníamos que tratar de que los tornillos del motor queden bien colocados y bien fijos para que el mismo quede bien encentrado y no choque y tranque por rozamiento. Luego de armado tomo un palito y le limpio bien los plásticos para quitar la suciedad que pudimos haberle transmitido en todo este proceso.

Amigos míos y así es como mantengo mis ventiladores funcionando y listos para recibir el caluroso verano, la verdad me ahorro mi dinerito y les cuento que no hay nada más gratificante que ver el resultado del trabajo que realizamos.
