Ideologies In A Nutshell

This video is a snippet from a popular comedy movie Uuno Turhapuro menettää muistinsa (1982).

Context: Finland had managed to maintain her independence and avoid being completely overrun and occupied during WW2 being one of the three warring nations in Europe apart from the UK and the Soviet Union to accomplish that. However, Finland had to cede territory, pay war indemnities and in 1948, Finland and the Soviet Union signed The Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance of 1948. Finland retained its democratic political system and market economy but the treaty became a tool for the Soviet Union to exert some influence on Finland's internal affairs. During the Cold War, all Soviet wars were supposedly fought in the interest of peace, including the bloody war in Afghanistan.

• "Do you really need to set up a new association? Couldn't you have joined an already existing association?"
• "I do not accept other people's peace. I need to have my own peace. The others are all talk and no action and march with banners while singing protest songs. But my Peacekeepers will bring a quick and final solution to the peace question! If not by other means, then with fists and dynamite! Do you understand?"

• "Ok. Sign this form to join and you'll understand soon enough."

• "Don't you understand?! You don't play games with my Peacekeepers! Sign the papers or you will become the first victim of the new peaceful world order!"
• "Oh well, in that case ..."

• "I hereby promise to fight to the last drop of my blood for the new world peace and kill everyone who opposes it and I will not accept the peace of any other association for peace except that of Peacekeepers."
• "Exactly right!"
• "Sign right there!"
• "Yes, but does it make any sense that ..."
• "Don't you ask any questions! When the last war began, did you go and ask your leaders questions about why the war began?"
• "No, I didn't."
• "Well, don't ask any questions regarding why this peace begins now, either! Sign the papers or else your gums will be wondering where your teeth went."
• "Of course, of course!"

• "Uuno paid his father-in-laws' inheritance money in advance! Here's two checks for the sum of 500 000 markkas."

• "The hell we have!"
• "You most definitely have! We do not accept anybody else's peace except that of Men of Peace and especially not that of Peacekeepers! Is that clear or will I have to twist?"
• "Yes, yes!"
• "This is how Men of Peace salute!"
• "Left - face!"
• "Halftime - march!"
