Showcase Sunday: The Heat Contined + Beach And Countryside Shots

There is a lot of snow out there and more of that stuff is falling as I'm typing this. I pushed most of the snow in the driveway over to the other side of a small mountain of snow in the back yard. It's a good workout for the pectorals, too.

The 60's (northern latitudes) are in the cold temperate climate zone where the seasons are probably more variable than in any other major climate zone on Earth in terms of temperature. The range is about 60 Celsius degrees between the usual summer maximum to the usual winter minimum. We go from +30 C in the hottest summer days to -30 C in the coldest winter nights. This happens almost every year.

Tonight, I wanted to go back to a very different kind of day only a little over six months ago. I went swimming on hot day and took a bunch of photos both with my DSLR and my smart phone.

I went for a swim today afternoon, too. There were supposed to be thundershowers at 3 pm but there weren't any at all. It was 27 C whole time. After cleaning the house, it was time to hit the beach.

This is Vähä-Tiilijärvi in Hollola. The lake is close to the top of the esker. Nice clear water.

This container contains a kiosk, open for the last day today. The girls who ran it were 4H club members. Two were entrepreneurs and two were employees. This is the last weekend before the end of the school holidays on Wednesday.

I left when it looked as if it was going to start raining. I think I heard a distant rumble. It ultimately didn't rain at all, however.

I took this when I had got dressed. The water temperature was maybe 21 C, which didn't feel warm but was very refreshing!

I drove via a 1970's district on the way home.

Getting to the center of the municipality of Hollola.

I had a double cheeseburger in the car for a snack. Swimming always makes me hungry. There was a sign outside that recommended takeout. The incidence of Covid-19 is on the rise again. The cause is increased international travel. What the heck, I could listen to the radio while eating it. I keep vacillating between a channel that plays the latest charts and another channel that plays classical. The former runs way too many ads for two things: payday loans and sex toys, which annoys me to no end. The latter is sometimes good but may be somewhat boring depending on the music. The other channels are even worse. (Not because of sex toy or consumer credit ads but because they're boring.)

I drove on and saw this. A trailer with timber for cargo.

It was parked close to an abandoned gas station.
