At the end of the year, my mom always makes tamales, which are typical of Colombia, each region has its own type of tamales, so there are tamales from Tolima, Vallunos, Pastusos and in this case my mom is preparing tamales payaneses, which are made with pipian. The pipian is like a mashed potato, a red potato that comes yellow with red, it also has peanuts and pork, plus cumin, onion and I don't know what else.

The Tamal leaves that are left over end up in the garbage, so I rescued some to make this character, which turned out quite nice.

To make any doll, the first thing to do is to make its skeleton, for this I always use wire.

Then the leaves come in, banana leaves that break and cover the wire, with their green color.

The head is also a rolled leaf, this one is glued on a piece of green cloth, I tried to give him more resistance with this, although, I don't know if it works. I also put green and beige lency cloth eyes, I also put eyelids with pieces of leaf.

Finally, I place a piece of ribbon, since the tamales are wrapped in these ribbons to prevent the leaves from opening. My mother, who is an expert, no longer uses this method, but most tamales have the ribbon. To complement the doll, I added a brown nose.

I hope this character will last a good while, although I also know that the leaf, as it dries, will lose its characteristics and I don't know if it will resist or be damaged. But in the meantime, I will enjoy Señor Tamal at home.
