Arnold Schwarzenegger is a legend in the movie industry and everyone knows that. He has been in several blockbuster movies like Commando and Terminator. But would you believe me if I told you that none of those movies are my favorite.

I mean I love them but not the way "Collateral Damage (2002)" has and will always hold a special place in my heart as a major lover of the action movies genre. This particular movie is not just focused on the action genre alone but it combines the genre's trademark which is the adrenaline-pumping action sequences with a deep and emotional plot that left an indelible impression on me forever.

And Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't disappoint. He had a fantastic performance as the main actor Gordy Brewer. So, let me not waste time diving further into a review of this classic action picture and discussing why it remains one of my all-time favorites of Arnold's in this week contest on cinetv

About the movie
"Collateral Damage" is a strong action thriller that has been my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. The movie was directed by Andrew Davis and was released way back in 2002. It follows the story of Gordy Brewer (Schwarzenegger),who was a firefighter that lost his family in a terrorist attack carried out by a dreaded Colombian guerrilla organization. Brewer, devastated and depressed by the death of his family, traveled miles to Colombia to seek vengeance and prevent the terrorists from attacking again.

Plot
The plot of "Collateral Damage" is simple but well-crafted and does well to keep the audience interested from the very beginning to end. Although it's just a typical revenge plot heightened by Arnold Schwarzenegger's emotional weight in the part of Gordy Brewer.

Gordy Brewer, a firefighter who is heartbroken after his wife and child were killed in a bomb blast orchestrated by a dreaded Colombian guerrilla organization on American soil. Brewer waited for the government to fish out these terrorists but when it was clear that politics was being played on the issue and help wasn't forthcoming. He heads to Colombia in search of the terrorists responsible for the attack and to prevent them from striking again.

He met a number of personalities on his journey along the road, including beautiful Selena, played by Francesca Neri. Selena was a lady who lost her family to the same terrorist gang and is also seeking vengeance. And with one goal in mind which was to take down the terrorists, the two join forces. Setting up the pace for the movie which is filled with violent action sequences and suspenseful moments.

There was also a great supporting cast, from notable actors like John Turturro as an FBI agent who helps Brewer with his mission and Elias Koteas as an arms dealer who aids the terrorists.

I must say that Director Andrew Davis brought his unique and stylish approach to the film, with his dramatic and pure realistic action sequences.

My opinions on the movie
Arnold Schwarzenegger did great with his usual violent action star presence, but he didn't stop there he also showed off his dramatic versatility in the picture. His changes in mood and emotions were commendable. Arnold played Brewer with this deep sense of empathetic and vulnerable feelings. He depicted a character who has suffered a great personal tragedy. That's one thing I loved about him in the movie. Despite his macho stature and his already registered presence as an action-hero persona, he still proved that he can play a man who is not destructible and is dealing with grief and fury. He gave the character much gravity, he demonstrated that he is more than just a brutal action hero, but a multi-dimensional actor capable of giving a great emotional performance.

I'm a true fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger's works and I admire him a lot. I believe apart from action I've seen him do serious comic genres too.

One memorable line in the movie that sends chills down my body from "Collateral Damage" is "You picked the wrong man to lose," by Schwarzenegger's character (Gordy Brewer) to the leader of the guerrilla terrorist responsible for the attack on his family. In those lines was a man ready to do anything to stop the terrorist from striking again after his past experience.

Here's a little fun fact about this movie. Did you know that Arnold Schwarzenegger was 55 years old when he filmed the movie "Collateral Damage," yet he was still in excellent shape to spin a bike and run down a hilly terrain and able to do the tough action sequences required for the movie.

From a movie fanatic to another, believe me this is a must-see for anyone who enjoys a good vengeance plot. You aren't going to regret it especially with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the lead, it's sure to wet and satiate any action fan's appetite.

"Collateral Damage" is a movie that will have you sitting at the edge of your seat from start to finish, trust me. So, better grab some popcorn when you're ready because this movie is sure to take you to the world of "Collateral Damage"!
