Embracing Inner Peace Through The Practice Of Mindfulness

In our world today getting caught up in a never-ending loop of tension, anxiety and frustration in our fast-paced and chaotic environment it's so easy. Sometimes it could be the information, distractions, and expectations we are constantly inundated with that can leave us with these feelings of being overwhelmed and then it detaches us from our inner selves.

I was reading an e-book the other day which was recommended by a friend when he noticed how out of myself I've been lately. It's a book on mindfulness. I was able to understand a few things about it which I'm going to talk about today in my post.

Mindfulness is a simple yet deep practice that most of us are not aware of. It is one practice that can help us find our serenity in the midst of this chaos.

Here's what I mean by mindfulness.

It is the practice of which we're being fully present and aware of our thoughts, feelings, and environment without being judgmental . In this case rather than being preoccupied or relieving in our past or trying to tell our future, we just pay attention to our present moment with inquiry and love. Letting life flow by itself.

Simply put, this way of life tries or just enables us to completely experience each beautiful minute/ moment of our lives while cultivating a profound sense of calmness and fulfillment.

One of the profound advantages of this mindfulness practice is that it has the capacity to relieve us of stress and anxiety. While focusing on the now, we can easily break out from the addictive pattern of worrying about our future or brooding on our past just by focusing on our present reality. Like an antidote in stressful times, it can help us feel more grounded, at peace, centered, and tranquil.

Not just that alone the practice of mindfulness can also help us in the increased development of self-awareness and also our emotional intelligence. Gradually and meticulously , we can begin to grasp those patterns and behaviors that may be messing up with our minds and preventing us from living our best lives. We begin to monitor our thoughts and feelings without judgment and not living in the past and feeding our minds with negativity. Mindfulness can help us to create a more self-compassionate and empathetic person, as well as strengthen our interpersonal connections.

Now here's another fact you might not know about mindfulness that benefits usis that regular mindfulness meditation has been proven in studies by professionals to lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and even boost our immune system. That is to say it also helps us get healthier.

So, enough of my long sermon about its advantages. Let's focus a little on how we can practice mindfulness in our everyday lives.

To begin started, here are a few simple practical steps I learnt from my book:

Deep breath first: Because it is always with us and may help us tune into the present moment, the breath is a potent anchor for mindfulness. So relax and take a few deep breaths while paying attention to the sensations in your body as you inhale and exhale. Generally this entails calming your nerves.

Listen to yourself and your surroundings: as much as you can try and concentrate on the sounds around you without becoming distracted by thoughts or distractions. It could be the chirping of the birds or the sound of the cool breeze.

Be Grateful: This practice can help you cultivate mindfulness and joy. So take a few moments each time you're tensed, anxious or stressed over something to think of something you're grateful for. Anything at all could be the littlest of things. As long as it means a lot to you. It could be a loved one, your pet, the gorgeous sunset (if you're a lover of nature), the view from your house or a delicious dinner.

Take a walk: Go sightseeing, walk around the countryside, walk with or in nature, you can walk your pet. Walking can be a good approach to the practice of mindfulness. Because somehow it allows us to connect with our environment thereby tuning is into the present moment. Don't forget to take a few moments to explore the world, people, colors, textures, beauties and breath of nature around you. Allow the cool evening breeze to brush on your face.

The truth is trying to truly embrace this way of life may be hard, it may even require a little time, patience and practice. But the advantages are well worth the effort a million times.

So just as I am trying to do, why not give it a shot and see how it can change your life?
