Growing up, I never truly appreciated the beauty of gardening. I remember helping my Mum with the occasional weeding or planting, but it always felt like a chore rather than something I enjoyed. It was not until I moved out on my own that I began to understand the benefits of gardening and the joy it can bring. From the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, to the less expensive grocery shopping .

Growing up, my mother had a small vegetable garden at the back of our house, and she would often make my siblings and I help her tend to it. At the time, just as I said earlier I saw it as a punishment and did not really understand the importance of having a garden. But as I have grown older and now live on my own, I have come to realize the true value and the beauty of gardening in your backyard for family use.

The first time I truly understood the importance of backyard gardening was when I tried to purchase vegetables for my cooking. I had just moved into my own place in school and was excited for all the adventures it was to bring. Also as a lover of food I was excited to start cooking for myself. However, when I went to the store, I was shocked by the prices of fresh produce. I couldn't believe how expensive it was to buy just a few basic vegetables. And I really wished I had a spare space at my apartment where I could start gardening. That's when it hit me - having a garden in your backyard can save you a lot of money on groceries.

Gardening in your backyard is not only a cost-effective way to provide fresh produce for your family, but it can also serve as a great way to bond with your loved ones, have control over what you're eating and beautify your environment.
