The Little Market On A Cliff

Back when tigers do smoke, in a small village nestled at the base of a towering cliff, there was a little market. The market was a humble place, with only a handful of vendors selling their wares, but it was a beloved institution in the village. The villagers would gather there every day to buy fresh produce, handmade crafts, and to catch up with friends and neighbors.

But the little market had one unique feature that set it apart from all the others - it was perched precariously on the edge of the cliff. The villagers had built it there many years ago, and no one could remember exactly why. Some said it was to take advantage of the cool sea breeze that blew up from the ocean below, while others said it was because the cliff provided a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Whatever the reason, the little market on the cliff had become a beloved part of the village.

One day, a young girl named Ava moved to the village with her family. She was a curious girl, always eager to explore and discover new things. As soon as she saw the little market on the cliff, she knew she had to visit it. She begged her parents to take her, and they finally relented.

When Ava arrived at the market, she was struck by its beauty. The vendors' stalls were colorful and inviting, and the breeze from the ocean was refreshing. But what Ava found most interesting was the market's location. She couldn't understand why anyone would build something so important so close to the edge of a cliff. She asked one of the vendors about it, but all he could tell her was that it had always been there, and that was just the way things were.

Ava was determined to find out more. She spent her days exploring the village, asking questions, and trying to find someone who knew the true story behind the little market on the cliff. But no one seemed to know anything.

One day, Ava was wandering through the village when she came across an old woman sitting on a bench. The woman was knitting and humming to herself, and Ava couldn't help but feel drawn to her. She approached the woman and asked her if she knew anything about the little market on the cliff.

The old woman looked up at Ava and smiled. "I do," she said. "I know the story of the little market on the cliff better than anyone."

Ava's heart skipped a beat. She had finally found someone who knew the truth. The old woman told Ava that many years ago, the village had been plagued by a terrible drought. The crops were failing, and the villagers were starving. They had prayed for rain, but none came.

One day, a wise old man came to the village. He told the villagers that the only way to save their village was to build a market on the edge of the cliff. He said that the market would be a symbol of the villagers' faith and determination, and that it would bring rain to the land.

The villagers were skeptical, but they were desperate. They decided to build the market, and they worked day and night to complete it. When it was finished, they held a grand opening, and the villagers gathered to celebrate.

As the villagers were celebrating, a storm began to brew. The wind picked up, and the sky grew dark. Suddenly, the skies opened and rain began to pour down. The villagers were amazed. They knew that it was the work of the wise old man, and they thanked him for his wisdom.

From that day on, the little market on the cliff became a symbol of hope and faith for the villagers. They knew that as long as the stood, they would always have the protection and blessings of the heavens. And so, the market remained on the cliff, and the village prospered.

Ava listened to the old woman's story with wonder and awe. She couldn't believe that such a small, humble market could hold such power and meaning. She thanked the old woman for sharing the story with her and went back to the market on the cliff, with a newfound appreciation and respect for it.

From that day on, Ava visited the little market on the cliff every day. She would buy her fresh produce and handmade crafts, but she would also spend time staring out at the ocean, feeling the cool breeze on her face, and thinking about the power of faith and determination.

Years passed, and Ava grew up to be a wise and respected woman in the village. She always remembered the little market on the cliff and the story of its creation. And when the village faced difficult times, she would remind the villagers of the market's significance and the power of hope and faith.

The little market on the cliff still stands to this day, a reminder of the village's history and a symbol of hope for its future. And every day, the villagers gather there to buy their daily essentials, catch up with friends and neighbors, and to remember the power of faith and determination that saved their village all those years ago.

It must be tiring to carry all the sales up and down that cliff. No accidents? No one ever fell from it?

I wonder if the very first market was blown away by the storm or if it was an offer for the weather gods.

Enjoyable, good food for the thoughts.

Thank you for joining pic1000. 👍
