Behind the Screens and Perfect Posts: Understanding the Power and Danger of Online Influence.

A lot could be said about the Internet. And y'all will agree with me that the Internet has helped a lot of people be in the spotlight. A lot of celebrities, influencers and all gained their fame today via the Internet and social media. With just a phone, Internet connection and some consistent posting of contents you can become known an famous. And all of these people who have become famous today have become an integral part of not just the online space but also the society at large.

Also, we can't deny how much the Internet has also helped in making things easier for us. You can learn almost anything and everything online. Talk of trading, skills, cooking skills, graphics, marketing and various things, and today a lot of people have built their careers around this things, that's what you can now find a lot of people doing content. There's just a space for you.

Also, we all can't deny the help social media has done to our businesses, as a small business owner that i am, I have customers even in states I've never been to, various people asking and ordering for frames, customized items and the likes. How could I have known or met such people if not for the Internet and social media.

Also, see #hive itself, it has helped a lot of us to discover hidden talents, open us to various opportunities, blog and all of that. I've even met various friends via this amazing platform and learning each and everyday, of which I will love to use this as an opportunity to invite y'all @sam.hangout community, amazing place for amazing people where we discuss different topics on a weekly basis.

Now, back to the creators im our media spaces who have now grown so much to have big followers and have become brand ambassadors and influencers. Some of them are actually doing very good contents ... Some entertain, some educate, some help talk about the ills of society and all. What I'm trying to say is, a lot of them are so influential that they can to some extent control the minds of their followers. They can ask you to not patronize a certain brand and you will find that particular brand losing customers, they can ask us to consider voting for a particular person in the next election and even we will even see reasons why we should.

He social media is vast place, and it's open to almost everything and everyone. That's why we as well see that a lot of people are also using it the wrong way. A lot of people online only know how to bully, some are just scammers, some post and promotes unhealthy lifestyles and all, and they are still very well known. Some believe engaging in some kind of contents will help them gather attention online, have huge followers, get massive engagement and all, and for that reason they feel they can go ahead to do anything.

And that has led to people comparing themselves to certain people online, they forget that most of this online people will let you see what they want you to see. They plan stuffs ahead, most of it aren't real, they are well scripted, you can see it going on for months and all, it doesn't make it true. They set down their camera and record and you believe it is all true, it is really happening....common.

I'm not saying all, but most are just like that. Very well planned and scripted. And a lot of people who believe in such a persons work, relationship or whatever they are doing online feels bad when they compare with heir own relationship or reality. They never knew these people they were watching were only showing them what they wanted them to see.

Our influencers can do better. They should know they hold a lot of influence on the youths and all those who watch them. So, it's even important for us to be sure of a thing before going into it, be sure of information before sharing and we all should as well avoid using social media to spread hate or negativity. It is a vast place and there's room for everyone.

And I feel with how advanced and all the world is at the moment, schools and educational bodies should consider adding digital responsibility, online safety, the internet, social media, and such to our school curriculums. The media is a very powerful tool, it can build and it can destroy, I understand that a lot of people have already built their lives and all around it, even still we shouldn't be reckless in using it.
