Interns Are Workers Too.

Okay, personally, I feel intern needs to get paid. We all know who an intern is. Am intern simply means someone who is in a company or organization to learn actual work. Someone who's come to learn the real(practical) work,, not the theory's of school and all of that.

I have few of such people and friends, it I'm not the type who pry in to people's privacy so I don't really ask them what they do or if they get paid. But there was a time I was always in the hospital environment and a patient then, so during that time as a young guy too, I got close to few doctors who were interns them. I saw how they follow senior staff around, I see how they ask them questions and at times ask them to be in a charge of or monitor a patient. And I see the way they do, trying to handle things, observe and all.

So, we can call them students and they are still learning, but we can as well call them workers as they are working too. So, they really need to be paid. Most of this interns that I see and know back then are really really working. I see how they came early to work, some stay overnight, some of them are on-call, they attend to patients, go up and down and all. I know there are interns everywhere and in different organizations, including banks, but I'm just using a hospital since it's what I've seen.

Yea, I remember a friend of mine sometimes ago too, we don't talk like before anymore now though, but then when he was still an intern at his place of work, he was more than that, he's doing a lot of work that even the main staffs aren't doing, especially because he's good with a lot of things, smart and fast. So, talking of if they should get paid... Omo, they should. I feel we shouldn't debate their payments at all, cause most of them are really doing the actual work/labor way more than we say they are learning.

So, the time, energy and effort they are putting into learning and working deserves some form of payment. I agree that they are not expert yet, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't get paid. While they were in school... It wasn't free, so what should they work for free now, cause in all honesty, they work more than they learn, I understand that most of the works they give them to do is for them to learn as well though, even still, the fact that they keep showing up needs to be recognized.

I understand the part of companies and these organizations too, considering the fact that they are doing work to some extent too by giving this interns professionals to guide them, giving them a space to learn, they at times allow them do real work which if they fail at the company takes the blame and not them..so for that, I can say interns should still get paid but might not be up to what the main/full staffs are earning. But then if they do well and deliver too, the same company takes the credit..🤷

At least, something enough to meet there basic needs, they eat, they use transport, they pay for rent and some stuffs. So, they should get that much, something that will make them feel seen and appreciated. And like I said earlier, some of these interns work harder and way more than actual workers, so they deserve some payments. They are learning, contributing, and working at the same time.
