The Go-To Person Skill.

There are few things that came to mind immediately I saw this topic. There are some skills that I really want to learn, especially tech skills. The likes of cyber security, data analyst, programing, and the likes. But then, while trying to take my time to think things through again and checking the topic once again, I felt all of those are important but something keeps disturbing me in there.

And that's how that skill I would love to learn came by, it is the ability to really understand people and be able to communicate with them in way that will impact them positively. I'm the type who loves to check in on people and I also happen to be the go-to person for most people when they feel like talking or sharing a thing. And I feel I don't actually have what it really takes to be that person.

I've heard of and seen a lot of families tear apart due to poor communication, I've seen how relationships break due to misunderstandings, and I've seen how most friendship ends all because of some assumptions. And that is why that skill means so much to me. It would help me handle situations and issues well and easily. There was even a time I was doing it the anonymous way on my WhatsApp status, but I stopped along the line because in all honesty, I'm not well equipped and skilled for it. Some still come to my DM to talk and the likes, but I'm not so into it like I was before.

There are times when all that is needed is just few sincere words, other times it's nailing the issue on the head, sometimes its saying a thing as it is, most times it's just you listening and making the other person feel seen, heard and valued. So having that skill would make all of that possible. I would be able to understand people easily, I would be able to converse with them, and see things right from their perspective.

After having such a skill at my disposal, I would as well use it to mentor young people, support and help those going through one difficulty and the other and also write books that can help everyone. It's a good feeling seeing and knowing that someone somewhere is not giving up, decides to keep going and is doing well all because of something that you did.

So that's it for me, and that skill is one that will help me touch, impact lives and leave people in a more better situation than I met them.
